I wannna transfer ASAP

Hi, I am a freshman at Penn State University. I wanna transfer out as soon as possible. The atmosphere here is not for me. I'm not into partying like everyone else, it makes me sick seeing kids doing keg stands outside in the middle of the day. What stats would I need to transfer to NYU? I'm pretty sure I have close to a 4.0, the classes are so easy here. But my high school transcript sucks. My Sats were okay (720 verbal, 500 math, 650 writing)...but I did horribly in high school. How will that affect my admissions? I'm not planning on applying to any special school at NYU, like Tisch or Stern. I'm a poli sci major.

If your college grades are good, you have a shot at good schools. Definitely apply, but also apply to a safety that you will be happier at than Penn State.

I dont think NYU will be to much different. sure **** wont be in the street but the drug use is very high and people party alot.

I'm also in Penn State and I definately don't like the super Party scene here. I wanna transfer into Michigan, UVA or NYU. My college grades so far are good, and my high school GPA was a 3.9 weighted. However, my SAT isn't that good (2010/2400, 1310 Math Verbal combined). Do I stand a chance?

2010/2400 is not good.

for Michigan LSA or UVA, is that really bad??

I just think I would be much happier at NYU. This might sound like a stupid question, but is transferring in harder than applying for freshman year?

oh yeah and psu is in the middle of nowhere.

oh and nyu wants 3 sat II scores. I only took bio, i got a 620. Should I go take two more? Is this even possible being that I am in college?

Don't transfer. At least not yet.

This is still early in your time at PSU. A campus that big has all types of people. Look beyond the midday drunkards, and you will surely be able to find your social niche. My friends from high school and my friends at college are pretty different types of kids.

At every school the party people are the exterior. If you are not willing seek out your preferred type of people at PSU, NYU will surely be the same. NYU is less demographically diverse of people than PSU.

Also, have you ever tried a kegstand? Don't knock what you don't know.

Well, in terms of internships and such, I think NYU would be more beneficial because of its location. And I know this is a reach, but maybe Georgetown as well.

oh and yes i have tried a keg stand. but i kinda got over that stuff in high school, when all i did was party. thats why i applied here in the first place. but now ive grown past it. my heavy drinking years were from 13-17.

oh and i advocate the private usage of drugs but i dont like the big social party scene, everybody hook up and fall all over each other bleehhhh. i know its good for some people but not for me.

You are going to find a huge party scene at any big public institution, you should have known that before you even applied.

i know. thats what i wanted last year when i applied. now ive changed.

Oh my bad then. I'd suggest a smaller private school. I'm afraid NYU will have a nearly similar party scene as PSU.

Michigan is a huge party school mighty nick

Ooohh i'm pretty sure its not as big, or bad, as Penn State's.

If he thinks he's going to find parties ANYWHERE NEAR the size and intensity of PSU parties...he's dead wrong. We don't have parties here. We barhop and go clubbing. And that's only for people who choose to do so...you can do whatever you want, really.

And it'll be way easier for him to keep a healthy degree of seperation from others, if he needs it. Depending on how independent he is...he'll be fine here.

Are you trying to tell me that you thought Penn State wasn't a party school?
