I want to ask about housing to current or graduate student

Hey, guys.
I have question regarding housing. I am a transfer admitted student and I am not plan to live in residence hall(it’s filled anyway). I am looking for apartment where is close to UCD(I might not bringing car) and good and safe place to live. It seems like apartments in student housing service are very expensive. I also saw apartments in Craigslist and davidwiki and etc. they seemed little cheaper but I can’t really trust them yet. I am looking for apartment that I can have my own room and it would be nicer if I can get roommate as well( for 2 bed or more) and I was wondering what the current or graduate student prefer? Website apartments or SHA?

Just so you know, the single student apartments also function as regular apartments, so those apartment complexes don’t just have students living there. Davis Wiki is the best source for finding out the pros and cons of all the apartments in Davis, IMO. Next year, my 2 suitemates and I are going to be living at Anderson Place, which is only a 10 minute bike ride to campus and the price is reasonable ($1125 per month for a 2 bedroom. A one bedroom is $915 per month). If you want to be close to campus, I highly recommend Sycamore Lane Apartments, which is located right behind the U-Mall between Sycamore and Anderson on Russell. I’m living there over the summer with my suitemates, and the person we’re taking the lease over from has said that the area is really good and management is extremely helpful.

housing for transfer students is full already? i haven’t even submitted my SIR lol.

I believe it’s just residence halls that are full. I haven’t submitted my SIR yet (trying to decide between Irvine & Davis still) and as far as I have learned transfers will be put into the student apartments as of May 15 onward.

i thought this year’s residence hall for transfers was primero grove? aren’t they apartment-style anyways? i wish they would’ve directly notified us before cutting it off.

@ calibear: it is, but even that gets full quickly. Even freshmen live in Primero Grove.

are the prices comparable to the resident halls or are they significantly more expensive?

I talks to housing and they said that based on how many people are in a bedroom is how pricing is. So if two people are in a bedroom in primero grove or a regular dorm, they’ll cost the same

so they’re basically the same…? i haven’t quite had the time to research details.

Primero Grove is actual apartments, with a bedroom living room bathroom and kitchen while the dorms are regular dorms. This is what housing told me when I talked to them, it should all be on the housing website

I’m also a transfer student and I have been apartment hunting for the last month with no luck. I need advice!! Would South Davis be the closest to school? As of now, I’m planning on living at Allegre. Does anyone know anything about the apartment? Would you recommend it? THanks
