Hi, I am a freshman (a korean, but in reality pretty much asian american) who is going to attend umich in the fall. I was thinking of rushing during the welcome week and was wondering whether it would be possible to join any fraternities in the IFC, because i have heard some rumors that the fraternities in the IFC tend not to recruit members who are not white :( although they claim that race is not a factor, i'm sure that ethnicity does play a factor in some fraternities

so could you tell me which fraternities are slightly more diverse and known to recruit people from other races? (not a Multicultural fraternity)?

no frat is going to deny you because of your skin color, only if you are insecure and wierd. there is even a white dude in that asian frat, lambda.

There are very few minority students in the IFC fraternities, but they seem open to the idea of having more. I’ve even seen a few recruit minority rushees more aggressively.

At the same time, joining a social fraternity isolates you to a very white social circle on campus unless you proactively diversify your friend groups.

thank you for the replies! @tyler
which fraternities are you referring to?
yeah i really want to branch out, have a variety of people as my friends, just like I do in my international Highschool
