i won't be able to get in anywhere, will i?

i think i'm a top student.
i have a 2310 sat, 3 800 sats, numerous other 720+ sats, 3.8/4.75 gpa, and a heavy course load (7 aps so far, taking 6 this year, for a total of 13). i am also a national merit semifinalist(so far).
because of tuition woes, i only applied to usc and UCs (berk, la, sd, i).

however, it is very likely that i will receive a D in a computer science AP course due to cheating allegations (which i determined to fight). However, i will most likely receive at least Bs in all of my other courses (5 other APs). probably 3As, 2Bs, unless i get 2As, 2Bs, and 1 C.

i know UCs don't look at senior grades until after you've been accepted..
so how will this one D affect my chances of admission, if i report this as soon as my semester grades are released (before decisions)? and, if i were to report this after getting accepted, what are my chances of rescindment? does the fact that it is not a required a-g course, such as english or a third year of math (i will be fulfilling all of those requirements), as well as my heavy courseload, etc.. have any weight at all?

the same goes for USC. i know they ask for midyear reports for most applicants, but i may be accepted in the first wave. will sending my transcript with that one D result in rescindment?

thank you very much for any input.

Curses, I hate that I always click on these “I’m a total failure” threads even though they always start out with a “i think i’m a top student.
i have a 2310 sat, 3 800 sats, numerous other 720+ sats, 3.8/4.75 gpa, and a heavy course load”

^ for real
Mr… shut up, you’re fine. You’re going to an amazing college. Do your parents beat you into thinking that 100s and 800s are not enough? Smh man, this is what most Ivy Leagues are disgusted about I’m sure. People with low self-esteem because of academics, no personality, and no social life, or any knowledge or common sense. SMH at this

My first reaction to this thread was similar to that of the first two respondants, but I took the time to read to the heart of the matter, the expected D.

Assuming this is all true: that you’re going to get a D, that it is because of alleged cheating, and that the allegation is untrue,

then this is serious but probably managable. Management should begin at the HS level, i.e. fighting the allegations without making too many enemies, gaining the sympathy and support of a few people in power, such as counselors, administrators, and teachers, proving your competency in the subject matter to bolster your claim of innocence, etc.

Depending on how big of a problem it ends up being at the HS level, you may want to proactively get out in front of the problem at the college level by informing your colleges of the issue before they find out in due course and possibly rescind you.

I think you are smart to be thinking about this now, and I hope you are innocent and are able to prove your innocence and, if not, are able to get through this and go on to one of your preferred colleges.

Good luck.

thank you so much for getting past the first paragraph!
i’m thinking of entering a cc programming course so it seems as though i am proactively taking steps to learn the material (which i guess i am). this will probably help me as i report to the college that i got a D?
do you know what else i can do to help my case? besides reporting to the college a soon as grades are out?

If it’s untrue, fight hard and involve your parents. Academic dishonesty is taken very seriously by colleges and you’d have a real shot at being rescinded for that alone. This is not something you want on your record. Depending on how the high school handles it, you may have to report this to colleges.

you’re so right; i should have been more cautious.
thank you so much for your input
good news! the teacher believed me and just made me retake the test (: .
i think i’ll be taking the course anyways just in the case the teacher pulls a fast one on me later on.
thanks everyone!
