UC revoked. Help??

I'm afraid I may end up with a D in my AP English class this semester. Will my admissions not be further examined because of this D I will get in my February semester grade?
Or do they look at the spring final grades?
Please help? I don't want to get revoked...

one way to escape is begging...if you have like 67% or 68%, your teacher would give you a c...but he or she may not..if i were yo teacher, i would...

last time i checked i have a 63% right now. i better ACE the final, but even with that im not sure if ill get the c....... i'm so depressed..
but how do they see ur 1st semester grades? u dont send transcripts until june...im very scared..

im a junior so i dont know much but i think they check at some point...

get an A on the final, that way you'll end up with a high D and you can beg the teacher to round up and prove that you tried by your high grade on the final.

the UCs will not see your senior grades, unless they ask for them -- only in rare cases of kids on the admissions bubble. If accepted, you must maintain a 3.0 senior year gpa (uw, I think).

how do you know? i mean, it wasnt suppose to sound mean, i really want to know. bcus im not sure if teachers and people are jus aying that so the seniors wont slack off u know? but i tried my best, its just a very hard class, esp. with personal issues at home...
so im not sure if its true or not. otherwise, yes i will have to ace it...i need to..im scared

nobodyjay, i'm not gonna lie, you have to ace that final then demand your teacher to give u that C. A grade of C is fine on your transcript as long as it abides to the 3.0 UW rule of UC's.

how do I know what? As far as transcripts go, they are not sent until after you graduate HS -- again, except in the rare exception of someone on the admissions bubble, in which case a campus might contact you for "udpated" information. But, the March 30 letter of acceptance is quite clear that admissions are contingent on finishing strong, at least with a 3.0 gpa. If you do not maintain a 3.0, the campus may rescind your acceptance. That doesn't mean that they will, just that they could. IMO, wait until your acceptances arrive, and then take the proactive stance and write to the campus and explain (personal issues, that are NOT senior-itis) your poor grade (if it remains so). Most admissions officers are very understanding. You might also offer to repeat a failed class at a juco over the summer, since English is extremely important to college success. But, note, however, if AP English is your fourth year of english, I believe that passing it is a requirement for admission.

WOW you guys are so lucky. around 69%=c? that's an f here. i wish my school's grading scale was like that...

i have a question...is it 3.0 for the combined 1st and 2nd semester?

also, let's say you got a C in calc (my case), but want to retake it over summer at a community college for a better grade...can u replace the grade with the new one?

69 is a C, my school that would be a really low F, you would have to get a 79 to get it to a C and that would be a low C at that. wish my grading scale was like yours, i guess the college will see the number grade as well.

this sucks.

How'd you let this happen?!!!

what uc are you talkin abou

Read this: http://ucdavismagazine.ucdavis.edu/issues/fall04/parents.html

UC's do look at your senior year grades.

yes they do, but, as I noted before in post 9, they don't look at them until you are long gone from HS.....

You can't be revoked if you haven't been admitted yet. You are required to pass four years of English so if you are admitted and don't pass the semester of English you will have a problem. If you are admitted and then on seeing the grade they don't revoke you, you still might have to repeat it.
These threads kill me...why all this angst now when you had a whole semester to do better than a D? Anyone who is capable of being accepted to and performing well at a UC should be able to get a C or better in English.

Actually, many students accepted to the UCs, even Berkeley have terrible writing skills. Some of them don't even write in complete sentences sometimes. I kid you not.

"In the end, only about 30 students per year lose their chance to attend UC Davis. A small number are dropped for lying on their application, but most have slacked off, like Stephen."

Looks like your alright, if you are honest and give a reasonable explanation.

I was scared I was going to get my admission revoked last year from UC Berkeley because I was facing getting a D as well, so I know a lot about this. You need to have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 for both semesters (individually) as well as get no grade below a C. If you have an understanding teacher, they may help you out a bit, especailly if the bad grade is not a result of slacking off. I do know someone who got a D in the same class I was facing getting a D in (I ended up with a C-, though I suspect that was the teacher's doing) and is now enrolled in UCSD. I know he had to go through some sort of process by contacting them, ect. Bottom line is, if you do end up getting a D, as soon as you are certain that is your grade, you need to contact the admissions office and tell them about it, ask them what you should do. You need to be proactive about it, or else you will end up being rescinded.
