IB points and mcgill university?

I am my second year of IB and I decided to apply to mcgill for one of my colleges. My predicted grades are next week and I think I’m going to be predicted a 30 overall. With a 30, can I apply to mcgill and is there any chance of acceptance? Additionally does mcgill take into account final ib scores as well?

It varies depending on the program you apply to:

Well I’m going to apply as undecided

Unlike American colleges and universities, Canadian universities don’t have “undecided” as an option.

actually carleton allows you to enter with undeclared

and I visited mcgill in the summer and I mentioned I was undecided an they said that was fine

ok but my main issue is that even though my predicted might be a 30, I think I might get predicted one 4 in math but all of my higher levels are 5s and 6s, and I read that mcgill does something if all your higher levels are 5 or better or something

You may be “undecided” within Arts or “undecided” within Engineering but you MUST apply to a particular faculty or area.

ok I understand that but does anyone have anything to say on my main issue?

Tom already gave you the link in his first reply.

I know but I meant like comments on my 6th post

what does a transfer of 30 credits mean btw?

ok I have a 5 or higher in all my higher levels, with a 6 in hl history and I think I might be predicted a 4 in sl math which is the only one I have, does this look bad?

Does anyone have anything to say on this?

Hi, I don’t know if you’ll see this since you posted this a while back.

Anyways,
A 30 is quite low to apply. There are only some faculties that have this score as a minimum (even then, you can’t be sure you’ll be accepted by having the minimum). Other faculties have higher IB score minimums. When you apply you have to know what faculty it is - I mean, you don’t have to choose your major, but you do have to choose between “Faculty of Arts” (minimum score is 33) or “Faculty of Management” (minimum score is 36), among others, for example.

Furthermore, it is another requirement to have 5 or more in ALL your courses, not just your Higher Levels. However, if you do get 5 or more in your Higher Levels, you get 30 transfer credits which basically equates to the 1st year of undergraduate - this means you only do 3 years instead of 4 to complete your degree.

Lastly, yes, it is bad that your lowest score is Maths - it should be at least a 5. Some faculties even require a 6.

All this being said, you really never know, so give it a shot. McGill is one of the easiest universities to apply to because it just needs your grades - no essays, letters of recommendation, etc. The minimum grades can go up and down every year. I wish you the best of luck, I am also applying to McGill

Hi, I just wanted to know if you could help and predict my chances, so I received 29 points (Yes I know one point less thank required) but for my higher levels I received the required amount, 15 points, I got 6,5, and 4. And I unfortunately got 4 in SL mathematics.
