Hey Guys,

So I am a IB certificate student..

I am wondering whether my IB EXAM MARKS matter...

My grades are good for the school semester, probably ending with 3.2 which is good considering senioritis.hahah..with a lowest of a c in math...

but i know for a fact that I will actually fail the IB Math and am wondering wheather that will have any effect on me..i got in for business.. i know they require ib marks only for credits so im guessing it wont matter but still to be sure can some one pleasee confirm this..

You get credit for 5, 6, or 7 on Higher Level exams only. They don’t care about failures or whether or not you get the diploma.

Sorry, I take IB as well and am quite nervous about my final exams. I noticed that they said on one of their letters that if your grades drop significantly they might rescind their decision. Are you sure they don’t care whether or not you get the diploma?

well in the decision letter it says all students must complete their current academic program and failure to do this in good standing could result in a decision to rescind your offer of admission.

…it says nothing of passing, only completion.

i’m definitely a little worried about my IB exams.

I am guessing what NEUMachine said is right…?

I am an IB certificate student too (for Chem SL). Well, at least we still have 1 more month to study for IB exams, right? What would a passing mark be on the IB exam?

Oh yeah, and do we just need to complete, complete & pass, or complete & get a high mark on the exam? I’m not really counting on doing great (6 or 7) because most of our review for paper 3 is self-study.

I received an IB diploma. As I already said, you can fail IB exams and Northeastern won’t care.

You should know by know that a passing mark on an IB exam is 4 and above. Northeastern will not give credit for Standard Level exams no matter your score, and will only give credit for Higher Level exams with a 5 or above.

Again, no credit for SL. So for the chem SL student, it won’t matter your score at all, whether you get a 2 or a 7.

Ooh okay, so if they only give credit for HL subjects, would they give the same number of credits for a 5 as they would give for a 7?

Yes. Example: HL Chemistry gives 10 credits (for gen chem 1 and 2 and their labs) if you get a 5 or a 7.

So are you saying that you if fail the IB Diploma, Northeastern doesn’t care and will still take you in?

Because when I applied, my IB predicted score was 33 points. And in the admission letter it says something like ‘you have to complete your current curriculum at the same performance’. Will I still get accepted if I get like 23 points (which is failing, because you need 24 to pass) ?

hey, at the admitted students thing i…somebody asked this saying if we dont get our predicted score, will be kicked out…and he answered saying that nope, we never accepted u based on ure predicted rather ure gpa…

im guessing u will be able to figure from that what he meant.

But I’m an international student, and my school follows the British cirriculum, therefore no GPA. So…?

well i am an international student in an american school…so haha…

but if im right dont u have grades for like the semester or year end…that is what they will be looking at…if u dont have that, then no clue brother…lol

American schools are not allowed to accept/deny any student based upon their AP or IB scores. Again, they do not care if you fail your IB diploma.

You need to call admissions to figure out how they convert your grades if you only rely on final IB scores. Solution? Try not to fail.

Sorry to bump such an old thread! but will northeastern university still accept me if i dont pass the IB diploma? does it accept certificates?

taking a levels too. british curriculum.

met with the admission for neu guy.
he said as long as your grades dont drop dramatically like fail everything, you’ll be fine. :)

No. They are not talking about the exam but letter grades. Also you will not know your scores until July. Colleges need to ha

okay, so do you get in if you dont get your I.B diploma? I just got my scores and I am freaking out. I did however send them my other high school diploma as well.

IB diploma is not considered for admissions. As long as you have your high school diploma, not getting your IB diploma won’t hurt you once you have already been accepted.

did you finally go to northeastern?
