I'd appreciate any help I could get about picking a summer program!

Hi, so I just started junior year and next summer I was thinking about investing my time in a summer program somewhere. I know it is really early to be thinking about this, but if I have to apply/save money/convince my parents to pay for it, I need time.
This past summer, I left myself a ton of free time and didn't go away to camp or anything because I was planning on getting a job...well I didn't get a job haha. Quite a few of my friends did summer programs this past summer and loved them. I wanted to get CC's opinion on what the best summer programs are that fit my criteria:
- Not too expensive. I already go to a private school and my parents pay for so much, so I doubt they would be willing to contribute much money to something that they would probably think is pointless.
- Would need to begin like the second week in July. I am going on a school trip to Europe until then.
- I live in Massachusetts (50 mins from Boston, 20 from Providence)... so if it isn't something that provides overnight accommodations, it would need to be nearby
- I plan on majoring in either Biology or Biomedical Engineering, so something science-oriented would be great
- I have a great academic record/ECs/recommendations so getting into something shouldn't be a problem.

Should I invest in a summer program? Which one? or should I just get a job? I would really appreciate any feedback!! Thanks!

Should you invest in a summer program? If it’s going to be a monetary investment, probably not. In general, the only programs that have a serious impact on admissions are free, like TASP and state-funded governor’s schools.
