Any other ideas for colleges would be appreciated!

Just make sure that you get your ACT up, maybe try taking the SAT. Kalamazoo is very good also, not sure how competitive since I’ve never really bothered to look it up. Good Luck!

I think that you will have a good chance if you can get your ACT up a few points (make sure you take it with writing!). The main thing that you will have to do is maybe explain how you the challenges acedemically and EC being in a small town with not as many oppertunities offered compared to other places. The schedule and GPA look great. It shows that you are going above and beyond your school studies. I think you definately have a good chance with a higher ACT. Good luck!

Are you looking for school suggestions in Michigan or out?

will you chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/766882-chance-help-me-some-choices-will-chance-back.html

^Yes I am looking for schools mainly in Michigan.

Well MSU would be another big, more well known school in Michigan, but I don’t think they have an actuary program there (that is what one of my good friends is going into so I know a bit about it). Wayne State has one (i think you major in math and minor in actuary) and would probably a good fit and you could probably get some good scholarships there. Those are off the top of my head.

I just asked my friend and he said that Central, Eastern, Michigan Tech, and Spring Arbor are the other ones.

If for some reason you couldn’t get into Ann Arbor, U of M Flint has an actuarial science program, and your diploma just says U of M (so it looks the same as Ann Arbors).

Those suggestions are just based off of the Actuarial Science, if you want others just based on fit instead of the actuary part I’ll try and give you some. I think you are pretty much in all of those and could even get good scholarships at some. If you have any questions just let me know! Good Luck!

I do not necessarily have to go into a specific Actuarial Science program. A Mathematics program, with maybe a minor in Economics would suffice. I would appreciate some suggestions based on fit alone like you mentioned. Smaller schools (liberal arts colleges are okay too.)

Well, for the fit thing I might need to know some more stuff about what you are looking for…ex.

About how many students (really small, like 1,000 or really big, like 35,000). a range would be fine.

Do you want a school that is mixed into the main town, or a bit outside of town by itself?

Is the name of the school important?

How important is money? (the amount of tuition and number of scholarships, etc)

Do you want it to be a more “artsy” school or more science based?

Do you want a more urban or rural school?

How important are ECs, sport, internships, research, etc?

If they any of these are truly unimortant to you, just say so. I know these are all of the cheesy questions that you are asked in those stupid college questionaires, but I know a lot about the schools in Michigan and need more of an idea of who you are in order to give you really good suggestions. If there is anything else you can think of, just let me know.

^To answer your questions…

It does not really matter about size.

Mixed

Not really

Very important. I need to get scholarships (merit and need-based)

Suburban

EC’s are especially important.

Being a valedictorian gives you an automatic full ride at a few mich. schools (can’t remember where…i heard about them a long time ago, and I don’t qualify so I forgot where. I think maybe Aquinas does.) U of M is a bigger school mixed into a bigger town, and same with Wayne State. Hope College is one of the few smaller schools that is really mixed into the town, since many are more in the middle of nowhere. On some study, hope was found to be one of the top schools in the country with undergrad. research oppertunities.

to be continued…(have to go now, but will give more suggestions later  )
