Due to delays, I'm going to have to send my IDOC information (domestic US to Illinois) on Monday, February 28th. However, the deadline is Tuesday, March 1st (receipt, not postmark). The site just says that if I miss the deadline, I should get it in 'as soon as possible'.
This sounds really stupid, but should I opt for priority/express mail ($5-15 and crossing my fingers) or just mail it normally and hope I don't get disqualified for financial aid?

You can use USPS Priority mail - but not Fedex or UPS to send your tax materials to IDOC. I would pay the extra few dollars and do so. It’s not that you would be outright disqualified for FA - but those who have their stuff in on time will get the best packages - by sending yours in late - you might not get as good a package as you would if it arrived on time. So - I think it’s worth the $10 or whatever it will cost you.

Great answer, I hadn’t thought of the reduced package thing - thank you! Priority mail it is.

You should send it Express Mail thru the post office. It will cost about 18 dollars but will get there on the first. I just sent our package today. Express mail is the only way it will arrive on time as you can not FEDEX to a PO Box.

Does IDOC consider it “received” the date the packet arrives at their facility? I sent mine certified mail and according to USPS it arrived today. IDOC website says it can take 4-5 days for the status to be updated. Obviously there isn’t anything I can do differently at this point, but I’d love some reassurance that I made the March 1 deadline.

Oh my god, guys, I sent mine via courier (though some nagging instinct told me not to) and now I have to send it on the 28th of Feb. It’ll take around 5 days for it to reach the US. I could cry.

Wow, but I just checked the PosLaju (Malaysia’s National Courier) tracking website and it says the pack was delivered on the 26th. I’m thanking my lucky stars right now.

WAIT THERES AN IDOC DEADLINE? mine just says that there are school specific deadline’s and mine is two weeks from receiving the email. (I received the email on 2/25) I am so confused right now!!!

If you’ve just received the mail, it’s likely you have those two weeks after all. For schools who did not publicize a different date, the deadline for the College Board to -receive- your IDOC stuff is March 1st.
I just checked the US Postal Service website, and even express shipping (the most expensive kind) will get my package there on Wednesday, March 2nd (same as priority)…I guess I’ll have to settle and manage. I’ll be calling my prospective school about this anyway.
