Cornell says it only wants IDOC for 2014 tax returns but what if you won’t have those ready till April? Can you submit the 2013 tax returns in lieu of 2014 until the 2014 ones are prepared?
Yes you should submit 2013 returns instead until the most recent ones become available.
Thank you!
I asked Cornell and they said don’t submit 2013 returns.
Not that it helps OP now, but first year applying you (your parents) need to get taxes done EARLY in order to meet this deadline. You have more leeway in subsequent years (due a few months later for Sophomores and up). Often, if your FA paperwork is late, you can still get $, but may be notified late r than everyone else. You may have to call Cornell’s financial aid office once they re-open 2/18 from break to get a reliable answer.
No, absolutely do not submit 2013. Only EA applicants were required to submit 2013 returns back last November.
As much as we try to get our returns done by 2/15, some of the more complicated returns, like business owners may have, will not be done by 2/15. The IRS date for business returns is not until 3/15 and even though we are diligent and mindful of deadlines, our business return will not be completed by 2/15 so the IDOC stuff won’t be on time either. I called FA and explained and they us an extension.
My father called and specifically asked Cornell – do NOT submit 2013 tax returns. Wait until 2014 is filed and submit then. It’ll be fine. You probably just won’t hear back on Ivy Day; your decision will be given to you on a later date.
@annwank- good to know they give extensions. That Feb 15 date is just too early for many people.
hi @Renomamma, sorry for my ignorance i see several places ppl using the OP word, what does it stand for/
