I know this is definitely irresponsibility on my part, completely. But I’m just wondering how strict they are about this. In February I was fairly sure I had uploaded the documents requested to the best of my ability, but I wasn’t really a stickler about it because I didn’t think I would get in. Clearly my documents have not be uploaded (even though my parents won’t have their taxes done until tomorrow). I’m just curious as to how this will affect my financial aid offer if they even offer one so long after the priority deadline.
Thanks!
I believe that submitting tax documents late will do very little in affecting the amount of aid you receive (if at all). You will just receive your FA package later than usual.
@allenplay Thanks for the response, it will make the wait until I can call tomorrow a little more bearable knowing I haven’t completely fudged my chances of being able to afford this school.
I do not know if this applies to everyone but I received a physical letter of acceptance (likely letter a while ago) and it included a page that states that if we have incomplete documents, we have to submitted it as soon as possible. Since this letter was received last Monday with this page then I’m assuming they still accept!
The documents must be submitted by their deadlines to receive a FinAid package with your acceptance letter. If you miss this deadline, you probably won’t receive it by the decision release date. If you submitted FAFSA but not the rest of the documents, you will receive an estimate of your package. Once you submit the documents, they will be able to give you a final package.
My IDOC materials are still not complete because we just now filed our tax return. We own a business and our business return was due March 16th. Since IDOC wants complete packages and not piecemeal, I can now send them everything they need. Being late will just delay your final FA award.
I’m going to bump this because I uploaded everything and IDOC claims that they have processed the same amount of documents that I’ve uploaded (a lot of the documents have strange names like Package A and so on, even though I did not name them that). But when I contacted the financial aid office the director said she had no received the W2 forms or the certification. I’m not really sure what to do, I get no answer everytime I call IDOC and the Cornell financial aid office told me to do everything through them.
@Prubaby123 just upload any missing documents (W2 and Certification) directly to Cornell FA office via https://forms.finaid.cornell.edu/webform/finaid/submit.php.
@3rdsontocollege Thanks! Anything to bypass collegeboard, I feel like I pay them so much money and still they take forever to do things and do them inefficiently. If I never had to deal with them again, it would be too soon.
Hello there!! Bumping this post—I have recently panicked because I have the same issue and the lack of responsibility to also missed the deadline…By a lot…For the IDOC/tax return documents along with the certification. The worse thing is that I applied through the HEOP program, in which my financial aid status serves as a MAJOR role…
I wonder if I send the documents in now, will it still be too late? Or can they determine my HEOP eligibility through the CSS Profile/FAFSA along, and needs those documents for further Financial Aid package?
Thank you very much for any replies…I am almost dying from anxiety right now.
