I want to apply to many schools that are good business schools; however, i checked the undergrad students who apply for business and it is really low... should i check something else thats somewhat related to business? for example, I'm applying to UC Irvine and the acceptance rate is very very low for business administration, should i check something like business economics which is around 60-80% acceptance rate? do colleges really make a judgment based off what the student says theyre going to major in on the UC application?

It depends on the school whether it admits by major or division.

If the school does admit by major or division, then changing into the more impacted major typically requires going through another competitive admissions process based on your college grades.

For UCI Business Administration specifically, they do admit by the major; for the other majors they usually just have a general GPA/SAT score cutoff. If you list Business Economics as your alternate major, you should be able to get into the school even if you are rejected from Business Administration, given that you are a competitive applicant. It is possible to switch into Business Administration later on but it’s hard cause the program is still small…they accept like 10 people or something for change of major per year. I don’t know about other schools but I heard that UCR has a good undergrad business program(?) Also, you don’t need to major in Business to get into business school, you just have to work.
