Long story short, I want to go to UCLA.

I submitted my SIR to CAL but I think it'd be the biggest mistake of my life.

Could anyone please help / advise me on what the chance of me getting my spot at LA back would be?

ooo... call? fax. e-mail. smoke signals.

i know UCSD can overturn your decline of admission if you send a letter to admissions, BEFORE June 2.

Did you decline UCLA's offer or did you just send your SIR to Cal? If you just sent your SIR to cal (NOT decline UCLA's offer) then you can just e-mail Cal and say "I change my mind" and then when they confirm that you will NOT be attending Cal, you can send your SIR to LA.

This is probably something that happens a lot during this big decision making time. Give admissions a call and ask them what you should do. Biggest thing to take care of first, though, is overturn that SIR you gave to Cal.

hey poppin why the change heart?

plz tell !

stroke of genius? lol. i kid. =)

I'm with you twitchy...this is something that must happen a lot every year. I bet some people even go back and forth multiple times.

But seriously poppin, what's up?

omg poppin! NOOooooooo!

hint: a girl.

i am really so torn. So torn...

Welcome to the Bruin family :)

poppin - don't base your decision on a girl. you will regret it later on if it ends up falling apart.

wazzup with u pooppin!

just a girl lol...

well i wanna go to berkeley coz of a guy but there r other factors too so

Definitely do not choose to go to UCLA over UCB because of a girl. Relationships will come and go. If you and her are meant to be together, then you will still be together in the future regardless of which school you choose. Go to the school that you want to go to so that you don't have any regrets later in life. What if things don't work out with that girl?

Girls are trouble

nvm u'll find guys at berkeley AHAHAHA
just kidding

here is what i hypothesize
his GF/crush is at berkeley.
he got into berkeley submitted his SIR so he confessed or smth
and he either got rejected or got dumped

then again purely baseless hypothesis fueled by instinct =D

lolz my friend did that in hs, sent SIR to ucla and switched to Cal. they'll let you do it they just wont give u back ure deposit, ull have to give LA antoher 100.

I think every Bruin and Golden Bear here agree that you shouldn't pick a school over a girl. I think changusmc said it all.

you're right.

last night was just a bit of an emotional night for me. Long story short, I've known this girl for 8 years and we've been desperately trying to make it work since (she goes to SD).

I went to see her this weekend, and something inside me told me to stop waiting and work things out once and for all. The reason I chose Cal over LA is because I have intense family responsibilities to take care of here in the bay.

This being the case, while I desperately want to be with her, there's no way I could pick LA over Cal. Not to mention logistically it wouldn't work, as I dropped courses I needed specifically for LA after I submitted my SIR to Cal.

life: 1
me: 0

lol... enjoy those tree huggers in cal.

I'll have fun at westwood at UCLA :-D
(GO TO UCLA)!

Great input TrEbOr...it was so awesome that next time you can keep it to yourself.

lol, funny how everyone talks so tough on forums.

Difference is I would actually tell people my input upfront.
I don't see what was wrong with what I said, there are tree huggers at cal, so you should just shut up.
