I am a transfer student and I have already accepted my admission offer to SLO, and I’ve also sent in my official transcripts. There is a very good chance of my admission getting rescinded over a D I got in a class this past fall, but I am retaking the class at the moment. Mind you the class wasn’t a major requirement, and I still would’ve had my 60 units without the class. Regardless though a D is never good in any case. So I’m wondering if I get rescinded will I know any time soon? Will I have a chance to accept admission to another school if I do? Or will SLO put my application on hold till I finish my spring term to decide whether I’m in or not? If my application is put on hold till the end of spring, does that mean that I’m in as long as I pass my classes?

I just called admissions today because I too am in danger of getting rescinded. I just mailed my official transcripts recently and the post office told me the school will have them by today (Monday). Admissions said it goes to a general mail location at the school and the admissions office doesn’t receive the mail for 2-3 days. Once they receive our official transcripts, it is scanned into a computer and the hard copies are filed away somewhere in storage for up to 2 years. Your senior advisor (based on the first letter of your last name) takes a look at your transcripts on the computer and then sends them off to Chief Admissions Officer James Maraviglia. On the phone, they told me they try to get this process done within 2 weeks, but it can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Once the Chief Admissions Officer looks at your transcripts, he will decided whether or not you will remain accepted. He will send you a letter to your home address telling you whether or not you got rescinded. You will get a letter in the mail either way - whether you have been accepted or denied. So I would say give it 3 weeks, then start looking for a letter in the mail.

I personally don’t think you’ll have any problems, especially since you are retaking the class this semester. But I would contact admissions just to let them know, maybe they can put a note in your file. Anyways, Good Luck!

@KonaLuv Thanks a lot for clearing this very sensitive topic. I also have sent my transcripts on Friday and now am just waiting for the final decision of my acceptance.

Fingers crossed!

Thanks Konaluv! That was a very insightful response, and I feel a lot more relaxed now. Hopefully your situation sorts out in your favor as well, good luck! :)
