Okay, so I live in New York and I got accepted to University of Michigan engineering so do I have a fairly good shot at University of Virginia, UNC-chapel hill, and UCLA? Am I in the competitive range of these three school or is Michigan easier to get accepted to than those three colleges I previously listed? I don't want this to be a chance thread so I am not going to post any stats. Thanks.

Well I cant really say if your competitive with the other universities, but getting into University of Michigan- Ann Arbor was competitive. Most schools you've listed are usually ranked closer to #1 than University of Michigan- Ann Arbor.

You probably have a good shot at all of them.

Michigan accepts considerably more OOS students than those other three schools, so I'd say your chances are worse at those places no matter what your grades are. Michigan engineering is the best of all of those schools listed anyways. UNCCH doesn't even have an engineering college.

Huh? Mich engineering is ranked way ahead of both these schools.

OP, the others are slightly tougher to get into but you will have a very good shot.

It's easier to get into Michigan out of state than it is to get into UCLA in-state, definitely.

Yeah, its basically boils down to the cost of the school. I know Michigan is the best school for engineering but the school cost so much; approximately 44,000 a year to attend and dorm plus they don't give much financial aid. So I'm hoping some other schools such as UVa, Chapel Hill, or UCLA will accept me because they are slightly less expensive and supposedly give better aid. Also, my major does not necessarily have to be engineering; I'm willing to explore my options.

I hope you don't mind if I high jack your thread, but I have a similar question:

I love UMich, but did you know that it's not for poor people with EFC 0 lol. I also applied to Cornell University, it is my top choice, they give a full ride to poor kids. I just recently received my acceptance, and I got it fast, (feb 1st I applied, March 5th got in), and was wondering if they had similar standards.

I live in New York as well.
