So, I’ve been attending CC for two years now and have been receiving my Cal Grant B since then. However, I was denied it going into my third year at CC (due to high income this year) and it also says I have 0 years of eligibility remaining. Am I screwed over once I transfer and will not having a Cal Grant affect me when getting a Blue and Gold scholarship or whatever that is. Or…is it simply on hold now that it’s denied? I’m so worried about not getting that Blue and Gold because UC’s are already pricey as it is. Thanks
CalGrant is for 4 years (8 semesters) only. You should have 2 years left.
“it also says I have 0 years of eligibility remaining”
I think it’s because right now you’re not eligible for it at all. However, if your income decreases, your remaining eligibility should be reinstated.
Also, Cal Grant A and B have different income guidelines. You may not be eligibile for CG B, but you could still be eligible for CG A. It’s not gonna show up now of course, since you can’t use CG A at a community college. So right now you’re not eligible for either. But maybe once you transfer you will be.
What’s your income and household #?
I’ll be able to have two years left when I transfer next Fall (assuming it’s not denied then)? I’d hope that’s the case. Thanks for the response.
^^ If your family income qualifies you for CalGrant A, then yes. And since it was denied this year/you’ll only have used 2 years, then you should have 2 more years left.
