I just logged onto my calgrant account, and while I got an award, it says this:
Cal Grant A: Awarded - On Hold
so I completed what they requested - some high school / college info. When I submitted, it said to wait some time for it to be processed. but then I saw this:

Remaining Eligibility (years): 0

How can my remaining eligible years be 0 if I never got a cal grant before? Since I am entitled to four years. Can someone shed some light upon this matter?

When did you graduate high school? How long have you been in college? When were you awarded/when did you apply for Cal Grant A? If you applied out of high school, did you put it on hold? Or did you just apply this year? It sounds like you’ve just applied this year, but I can’t be sure from your post.

There could be any number of reasons you have 0 years of eligibility remaining including that it simply hasn’t updated. Need more information to even begin to narrow down speculation. Ideally, though, your best solution to get a real answer is to call CSAC and inquire directly to them.

And no, you are not “entitled to four years”. Four years is only for new frosh. Transfers are entitled to two years of eligibility if they qualify (if they transfer as a junior). Also, if you had entered straight to an eligible four-year rather than community college, but had entered as a sophomore, then you would have only had three years of eligibility. Years remaining is based on class standing when one begins use of their Cal Grant award.
