If The West Coast Had Their Own Ivy League.....???

I'll take a shot... 8 Ivies so here are my 8 in the West:

UC Berkley
Stanford
Pomona
Reed
Harvey Mudd
Claremont McKenna
Whitman
UCLA

Left Cal Tech out because its not broad-based enough. Harvey Mudd could fall into the same classification but there you can take plenty of Liberal Arts classes at any of the other Claremont Mckenna schools.

Clearly not all have the same level of reputation as the Ivies but In terms of comparable quality of education, I'd feel comfortable with this list.

Why are we calling it Ivy West when, from what you all have said, it should just be "I love Cali and it's the best" universities.

Not to say that Cali is bad, because it does have great colleges, but some diversity would be good.

Reed=Oregon
Whitman=Washington
But I do love Cali... :)

idk about ivy league, but I think the best in the west are:
Stanford
Cal Tech
UC Berkeley
Ponoma
UCLA
USC
Reed
Harvey Mudd College

The Best in the West has a nice ring to it :)

Attributes of the Ivy League: a sports conference, private, between 4,000-15,000 students.

so that knocks out the UCs as well as CalTech and Harvey Mudd.

It would be annoying if Stanford, USC and Pomona just played each other over and over again.

Lol..........

It would be especially annoying for Pomona. 116-3 never looks good if your school is the 3.

I think everyone realizes that the Ivy League is technically a sports conference but it has come to mean far more than that. I love USC but I don't think students often find themselves torn between USC and, let's say, Princeton or Brown. 'SC is a great school but IMHO not an Ivy-like experience.
