I’ve found that not many schools offer a biotechnology undergraduate major, so I was wondering: is an undergraduate degree in specifically biotechnology necessary to work in the field? Are there are other more broad undergraduate majors that are recommended? If so, what degrees would allow me to pursue biotechnology post-graduate?
No, a biotech major is not necessary. Other common majors include Chemical Engineering and Biological Sciences.
Good luck!
It is by definition a cross-disciplinary field, so a biotechnology major is not necessary. Also keep in mind an advanced degree is pretty much a requirement in the field.
