Do you ever feel like lying, especially if they form the question in the following manner: Oh, so you live in __? You must go to _ then?

hmmm… i dont know what you define as [bad]?
but i know that i am embarrassed to tell people that i go to my local cc, but i didn’t start there and i’m transferring in the fall.
so when i talk about it, i say “i’m at a cc now, but i’ll be going somewhere else in the fall.”

Nope. I’m transferring out of my current college (Which I would describe as not great at all!), but I’m not going to some top school. And if anyone has a problem with where I go, then they can feel free to keep their stuck-up mentality out of my face. There’s no use in living life to impress other people to me.

Nobody on CC goes to a bad college. NOBODY.

I hated telling people I went to community college. Hated it. Especially to my mom’s friends who have heard nothing but “Oh he’s so bright”, and a few years ago (she stopped this after Freshman year, thank god) “Oh he’s bound for MIT for sure”

And now I’m going to a lesser known, tiny, but pretty great LAC, which is more fun than sulking around and mumbling something about “well I AM going to transfer soon”

ha. before i transferred, i told everyone who asked that i went to a [bad] college x but was planning to transfer. the shame was too much to just leave it at admission of my current school.

i hate meeting old hs school friends who go to bad schools and telling them where you go…the convo always proceeds to be akward from there on

is this a parody of the other threads lol?

I don’t think anyone here goes to a bad college. Even if someone attended one ranked last on the US News top 100 list, that’s still the top 2% in the nation out of 4,000+ colleges.

Don’t be ashamed of where you go to school. If you do well, you can still put yourself in a great situation. I have friends who went to community college for various reasons and many of them now have great jobs and some got into some wonderful grad school programs with all the money they saved by choosing CC over more pricey undergrad degrees.

Mine isn’t in the US News top whatever list, but that’s moreso because US News is clueless than anything else.

You should be thankful that some people are so judgmental. This way you will easily know who you want to avoid having regular contact with in life, if you can manage it.
