...could you post your stats here.

Long story short, I'm going to need some money to go OOS, and I'd like to see how I stack up.

Thanks

Long story short, I'm going to need some money to go OOS, and I'd like to see how I stack up.

Thanks

Bump…anybody?

I got the freshmen scholarship

1,200 a semester

1320 Sat
4.7 highschool gpa, idk what that comes out to FSU wise

Were you in-state or OOS?

Thanks

I got an OOS tuition waiver plus the University Scholarship (I think that was the name), which was an additional $2,000/year over the waiver.
Stats: GPA:3.5W with almost all honors or AP classes and very few “fluff” electives
SAT: 1380 reading and math
excellent recommendations
showed lots of interest, had community service, select extra-curriculars, etc.
When I went to admitted students day they told me that this was the first year they did the OOS tuition waiver and that they gave out very few of them. Not really sure what the driving factor was, I’m guessing SAT maybe.

Thanks.

But FSU will probably cut back on OOS aid in the next couple of year with the economy the way it is?

Bump. Anyone else get a big scholarship or an OOS waiver?

How possible is it to get COA down to <$20k OOS?

thanks

copied from the FSU 2010 fall acceptances page:

this person got it, and so did this person:

I also saw someone with stats of somewhere around a 3.3 GPA and 1190 (CR+M) get the tuition reduction scholarship here so it might also be based on need. But he did say he had a lot of community service hours so it might be holistically or need-based.

Thanks dnerd.

And if you don’t mind me asking, how big was your scholarship? Does it waive OOS tuition? So you only have to pay like $5-6k, as if you were a FL resident?

Thanks again.

Edit: And could you tell me where I could find the FSU Fall Acceptance page? Or was it on facebook?

Here’s the original thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/florida-state-university/820921-fsu-2010-fall-acceptances.html

I don’t know how much it is exactly, but I got a different scholarship because I’m in state.

Note: A lot of the FSU GPA posts are wrong because people just ‘guestimated.’ Mine turned out to be 4 points higher

edit: By 4 points I meant 3.5 –> 3.9

Does anyone know how big the OOS tuition reduction/waiver is?

The website makes it sound like it is not completely reduced to IS rates, but is kind of close. Or do they vary in the amount of reduction?

thanks

you can get out of state tuition if you study abroad for the first year

please stop bumping

That is pretty cool, I’m interested in studying abroad.

My only concern with this would be fitting in socially. I’d imagine it would be like being a transfer student. You are technically a sophomore, but this would be your first year on campus.

Thanks brysia

You should be fine after a year of studying abroad. Most of the students who study abroad are FSU students, which means that you’ll know people once you arrive back to Tallahassee. I’d say study abroad - only because I did and had a wonderful experience.

coollege: my scholarship is $229 a credit hour of the out of state tuition rate

^ That’s the same number I heard from an OOS friend, so it might be standard.

That would make the tuition about $12,141 a year for 30 credits rather than the 19,011.

I got absolutely nothing from FSU, but I did get Bright Futures.

Well $229 off is pretty good, but I got a PM from someone saying their reduction waiver from FSU made tuition slightly higher than their IS public (College board had their IS rate at about $5,600), but R&B at that school is higher than FSU, so it evened out in the end.

So, with that PM and the $229 figure, I thought it meant that tuition for OOS kids with a waiver would be $229 a credit hour, not $229 off. But getting that much money taken off is still pretty good.

…or do the levels of reduction vary with how good your stats are? I noticed the person who PMed me was waitlisted at a very good Ivy, so maybe they got a higher amount and the reduction is not set in stone?
