If anyone got the full OOS tuition reduction from FSU, could you guys post your stats? Thanks!

I just toured them today, and I believe if you meet a certain criteria based on ACT/SAT scores and your GPA, then you’ll automatically get it. I’m only taking the ACT and only took note on it. If you get a 29 on your ACT and have a high GPA ( I don’t know the number because they recalculate GPAs in a strange way), you’ll have 50% off tuition. If you get a 30 on your ACT, then you’ll pay in-state tuition. Sorry I don’t have all of the info. I hope I helped though!

@TotallyTrudy For realz? That sounds fantabulous, I’ll have to check that shizzle out!

I have a 3.6 and 30 on my act. I took pretty much all honors all through high school and have over 90 service hours. I’m in the top 50% of my class and I attend a very difficult catholic school. Anyone have an idea of if I would get any money?

My guess would be no because while your ACT score is impressive, your GPA is at the bottom of their acceptance range, let alone honors ranges.

Yep - Honors helps but is not enough. You would most likely need a stronger GPA along with AP or IB vs. Honors…

I don’t think there’s any set criteria. FSU only has a small number of tuition waivers that they offer, so having set criteria would go against that. There might be general minimum criteria, but I doubt there’s anything definitive.

Acceptances for out-of-state students are already really competitive (more than general admission). With only a small number of these waivers available, you’re at least going to want to be safely in the Honors zone.

I did receive the full OOS tuition waiver, and ultimately that is what led me to choose FSU.

My ACT (superscored) was 31.
SAT 1350/1970
I was ranked in the top 2% of my class at a good public school.
I took 7 AP classes and the rest honors in high school.
I also had a lot of extracurricular activities which my friends think probably helped me a lot.

I spoke with an admissions officer after I got in and she told me the full waivers were very limited and that a lot of people called asking why they didn’t get it.
I don’t think there are set numbers but I think it would be safe to say you probably need to get into Honors.

Congratulations edtown! What was your GPA?

Good stats - I believe they still have other scholarships and reductions, did they offer any alternatives?

my GPA was like a 3.97 unweighted I think, or 99 on a 100 point scale (weighted)
I basically had all high A’s in my classes.

Also, I got the freshmen university scholarship ($2400 a year) in addition to the OOS waiver.
