If your parents make 80-90k a year do you get any aid?

If your parents make 80-90k a year do you get any aid? I am wondering cause my parents plan to not support me anymore but I am not old enough just yet to become independent

It’s also depended on the number of people in your family. However, if it’s just you, a sibling, and you parents then no

FYI, I didn’t get any aid(it was expected) and my parent’s made about 130,000 combined. There’s five people in my household. I’m pretty sure your financial aid is based solely off of your EFC(Expected Family Contribution), so if your EFC is super high you probably won’t be getting any aid.

My household income was $72,000 and I didn’t get a dime from UC Davis. I got about $700 from UC Santa Cruz, though.

^How many people are in your family? My single parent earns 70k and I am expected to receive ~$10k from UCB. I also have a younger brother heading to a CCC this Fall. O_o

wow… you got really lucky with aid foothill congrats! was part of that based on academics??

Just a little over $100k here (only my dad works), and nothing from UCSD. Davis said they’ll give me 22k for my 3rd year in LOANS though. -_- not too helpful…

75k here and I’m the only child…No money once so ever

my dad makes 70,000 (mom doesn’t work) and i’m getting 10K from ucsd. 5 people in the family, one brother in CC (transferring fall 2011)

ps. My GPA wasn’t that great… round a 3.0

The only money I got from any schools was the one they gave to everyone since they increased the tuition. Freaking ***holes. If you live in so cal or any place that has a higher standard of living then $100k salary just helps you cover the basics and then some. So basically I have $0 college money. Student loans are going to rape me. It’s almost better if my mom was unemployed then I would get a crap load of money and she would get unemployment checks and we would probably be dandy.

Let’s all remember, college isn’t a privilege.

^Are you saying it’s a right?

I think he was saying that with sarcasm

RileyJohn–what do you mean? I absolutely think college is a privilege, sadly. It should be a right but that is not the case for many.

my dad makes over 100k and i got 8k of fin aid not including loans.

I’m pretty sure its because my brother is in community college as well, and because my parents have absolutely no assets or net worth.

Yeah having other siblings really helps.^^^^

my husband and I are both college students. We make over 75k combined, but don’t have much assets on savings. I got 14,000 from UCB in gift aid. I was surprised myself that they offered me so much money

Lie when filling out the FAFSA. Stick it to the man!

^agreed
10char

I have a brother who is a junior in high school, and only my dad works. He makes a lot, $72,000 to be exact, but I didn’t get anything from UC Davis.
Also, we have a house we bought in Oregon that we fixed up ourselves. I think that’s what hurt me in terms of fin aid.
