If you've taken Honors Chemistry, should it prepare you sufficiently...

...for the SAT Subject Test in Chemistry? Because I'm a rising Junior and I'd like to take the Chemistry SATII, even though Chemistry has historically been my worst science subject. Thus I'm worried about how much I'll need to prepare for the exam. Sooooo, will taking Honors Chemistry next year be a good preparation?

It depends. My chem teacher was one of the best teachers so all I needed to do was to skim through a Princeton SAT chem book to get a 800.

My thoughts - no wayy. Our honors chemistry course barely even covered a quarter of what was on the chem SAT...imo you definitely need AP chem before going into a chemistry SAT. Then again, like SkyHigh said, if you had an amazing honors chem teacher, then it might be different...

I reviewed SN, PR, and Kaplan on top of my notes from my college courses, took 12 practice tests, and got an 800.

It's all a matter of effort.

i had to (or for my own feeling of security) review Princeton Review, Kaplan, and Sparknotes (just to sum it up quickly before the test) in that order. i thought Kaplan was the most helpful but thats just my opinion--though it does have some superfluous materials that are not covered on the test..
and i took all the practice tests in those books.
i got an 800 so im happy.

but you should definitely look over review books because there might be some stuff that you didnt go over. like for me..: redox equations and balancing redox reactions, more in-depth stuff in gases etc.
and oh. YOU NEED to practice solving questions without calculator. NEED to.

I'm not sure. My honors and AP chemistry courses are blending together in my mind - though I have to say more than one question on the SATII Chem was very similar to MC questions on the AP.

If your class doesn't teach all the topics, just learn it on your own.
I learned Biology all on my own.

i did honors chem and got a 720 (hard curve in june '07)

i don't think it is enough... when u take honors chemistry you don't think in the depth and maturity that you would after taking an ap class.

Really, only you can decide that for yourself. You need to see if your Chemistry Honors class prepares you adequately enough or not.

For our school, Chem and Bio Honors were enough for us to take the SAT 2's.

Though, every school is different.

depends on your teacher and your school and the course lol
