Hey guys,

Anyone know what the deal is with IGETC Certification if you attended multiple CCCs? I did attend three within the same district; LACC, ELAC & WLAC, so I'm assuming they're able to see each other's transcripts. Only issue is I took English 1 at SMC a few years back. Has anyone had to deal with this/did you have to get transcripts sent over to your last known CCC (that would be ELAC for me) and then do they do the Certification?

I'm going to call tomorrow, so you guys can save the "why don't you just call and find out" responses. I was just seeing if anyone has gone through it and has an answer- because well, I'm impatient. Haha.

This is relevant to my interests.

Any CCs within a single unified district should be able to see your completed classes/grades between them so you don’t need to submit any extra transcripts for this. If you’ve attended another random unaffiliated CC, you should send one of those transcripts to the school you’ve most recently attended or have the most credits at (which school you’re using to request cert) so that it will be on file. When I requested mine, there was a place that asked if I’ve taken classes at other colleges (aka do they need to pull my file) right on the transcript request/IGETC cert form.

I just dealt with this last week because I’m fulfilling one IGETC class with OOS credit and the rest among 3 different CCCs within the same district. That was the info they gave me but it could vary between schools.

Yes. You essentially need to transfer from your “old CCC” or “fewest units CCC” to the one from which you’ll be requesting IGETC certification. You need to provide the final CCC with an official copy of your transcript and request unit evaluation, which took about 3 months at my CCC. They look at each course and determine the equivalent course–converting English 101 to English 1A, if that’s the case.

Once this is done, you’re all set.
