IGETC/ UC Questions...Please help! Advice?

Hi everyone!
Im currently in community college, and fall 2012 will be my second year. (Orange Coast College) Im a pre-med major and I'm a total n00b at forums so please forgive me.
Im currently taking all IGETC approved classes to get into both UC's and CSU's, but I don't think I'm officially registered under IGETC program (which i will be doing this fall).

1.) When I officially register to be in the IGETC program will all of my previously acquired credits be counted? or will they make me start over :(?

2.) If I take a few easy classes (art or music) not listed under the IGETC program to boost my GPA (3.5) will they accept the credits/boost my GPA, or is it just pointless to take classes not listed in the program? Any suggestions?

Thank you! Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

IGETC isn’t a program you have to be accepted to, it’s a set of classes you take to satisfy lower division GE requirements. If you have taken the IGETC classes, you can be IGETC certified. I believe you do have to apply to be certified, but that just means that they look at your transcript and make sure you took and passed all the correct classes.

Yes, non-IGETC classes are counted as part of your GPA. In fact, you have to take classes outside of IGETC to get enough units to transfer.
