Igetc?

If you list on your application IGETC will be completed by Spring 2012, but fail a course or do not enroll in the spring that would have completed your IGETC - what happens?

Are your chances of getting accepted decreased? BTW in my case the fail would not affect my GPA.

[University of California - California community college transfers](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/transfer/requirements/community-college/index.html)

yes it will decrease your chance.

read the part where it says " To be considered for UC admission as a junior, you must fulfill both of the following:"

well ill have everything done except math in the worst circumstances.

so no chance of acceptance without math?

You need ATLEAST 1 transferable math class completed before you transfer. If you have none, then you’re screwed.

man that sucks. im really not liking this current math course, everyone says it’s way to hard to be considered remedial. i’ve lost a lot of points over technical errors (stapling homework the wrong way, not having a partner for a group project but still doing it 100%) not necessarily math.

it’s really annoying. i wonder if it’s possible to fail a remedial math course, but then take a placement test and place into a higher level math and enroll in cal/stat/whatever.

trying to think of solutions here. i HATE math.

take a class call, How to succeed in math. ;)

it would just suck to be rejected based on lacking a single course totally unrelated to your field of study.

lol. That is not the reason. That is the rules, its like the law. You can’t change it, you just have to obey it.

i know but i have a medical condition. it just seems like unnecessary roadblocks, especially if your major has jack squat to do with math.

Try harder. I took Algebra 2 my sophomore year in high school. Didn’t have the best teacher. Pretty much learned it myself.

Study study study, go to your professor’s office hours, go to tutoring. Then, take Stats; I personally haven’t taken it, but I’m sure it’s way easier than Calc.

You can add on the additional comments section how your medical condition affects your learning in Alg 2. If you manage to pass Alg 2 with a C, the UCs will take your med. condition into account.

this isn’t high school algebra (i took A2 in HS and got an A). it’s much different. lots of logs which i never did in high school.

professor’s hours are like two hours a month - tutoring at my school is just plain awful. i come in with homework questions and they dont know how to do it, i know more than them. ive spent half my financial aid on private tutoring which has gotten me this far.

UC dont care what grades you get in non-transferable classes as far as i know.

and like i said, im losing points for trivial stuff like stapling hw on the left rather than the right. it’s a complete joke. ive withdrawn from two other classes just to make more time for this one.

What math class are you taking? I took “Intro-to-Statistics” to satisfy my math requirements. EASIEST MATH CLASS EVER!! It uses basic algebra like addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. The hardest part of the entire class was to memorize formulas – which were very easy and not complicated at all.

Introduction-to-Statistics was invented for people who cant do math – like you and me.

I never said you were taking High School Algebra.

And, if you took Algebra 2 in high school and passed with flying colors, why are you taking Algebra 2 in college?! -__-

Bro, what math class are you taking exactly? And how many more remedial classes do you need in order to take a transferable class? I’m guessing it’s too late to drop the class so if you fail, try to take it in the winter. What is your grade at this point? If you fail, you can get 1 more shot in the winter.

According to this post, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/13494650-post17.html</a>, he’s taking Algebra 2.

If you passed Alg 2 in high school, you shouldn’t be taking it again in college.

because this is the math they put me in after i took the placement test.

this is the last one. i will be enrolled in a college level math by spring, meeting UC requirements. if i dont pass this math, i cant enroll in the college level math. it’s stupid because stats is ten times easier than algebra.

school doesnt have a winter quarter/semester and even if they did i dont think UC would care.

im pretty upset because i have spent so much time for this class only to potentially fail it. then stuck at CC for two more years.

LOL yeah nothing like that. basically the easiest part was solving systems and quad. functions/vertex/parabolas etc. now it’s logarithms ugh.

like i said, this is what i placed in. everybody has to take a placement test unless you have AP cal or AP math credit.

Did you send your high school transcript to your CC? Do they not take into account the fact that you passed Alg 2?

What my CC does is if you pass the math assessment test with a certain score, they will place you at the last math you took in high school.

i sent my hs transcript to CC because i met the foreign language requirement but that’s all they cared about. i could have taken calculus, it doesnt matter for a transfer student. just like your high school grades don’t matter. everyone takes the compass test. i guess some schools function differently.

im seriously going to join the army if this doesnt work out. i cannot stand another year at community college. it is suffocating me.

Calculus doesn’t matter for a transfer student? Really? You could have used Calculus for your IGETC…

What is your CC btw?

What score did you get on your assessment test? It doesn’t make sense how you were placed at Alg 2. Either a) you scored fairly low on your assessment test b) the person who placed doesn’t know his/her job well c) your CC sucks.

i didnt take calculus in HS. i said i COULD have. if you place in calculus in the compass test, you dont have to take any math (although you wont get 4 units). but if you take calculus in hs they dont care unless it’s AP.

i scored in the second to lowest math last semester. i passed that, and this is the last math before entering college level math. person doesnt place anyone, a computer does.
