Agree with the last poster: any school with acceptance rate around 10-15% has too many candidates with 4.0s and 2100 sat. So those are toss ups. You have a fair chance at most schools, and I would expect 1-2 reaches (schools with said rate) but your lucky if you get more (as is anyone)

When you say “I expect 1-2 reaches” does that mean getting in to 1-2 of those reach schools. Sorry.

Bumpbumpbump

Though you’re GPA is strong and your ECs are good, you’re SAT score is a bit low for all of the ivies you listed. However, you should still apply because you never know what will happen. I think you’re in at NYU, Brandeis, USC, UC San Diego and UC Irvine. You have a really good shot of getting into UCLA, UC Berkeley, WashU, Northwestern, and Vassar. I think Amherst, Pomona, and Johns Hopkins will be a bit more difficult, but you still have a good chance at getting in. Just try to increase you’re SAT score by as much as you can. Good luck!!

-UC’s: Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego, Berkeley

^ All matches except for Berkeley (low reach/high match)

-USC
-NYU
-Northwestern University

^ Low reach

-Dartmouth College
-Brown University
-Columbia University
-Johns Hopkins University

^ Mid reach

-Yale University
-UPenn
-Stanford
-Harvard

^ Reach (for almost anyone really)

I think you could get into most of the colleges with great essays and recommendations but I’m honestly confused as to why you would want to apply to amherst, pomona, and vassar since those are known for being relatively liberal arts colleges.

Wow your GPA is fantastic, and your essay topic seems golden!

As everyone else is saying, the higher Ivies are tossups for anyone… but I feel like you’re at the very least competitive for those schools. I feel like the best matches would be Northwestern, Brown, Dartmouth, and maybe JHU…

Sorry to be of so little help, and good luck!!
*By the way, thanks for the chance. People I’ve been talking to have been telling me I’m competitive for most of the schools I want to go to. It’s humbling and probably a good dose of reality to hear what you think of my chances.

UC’s: Irvine- in
, Los Angeles- easily doable
San Diego- in (although all my friends hate it there)
Berkeley- easily doable
-USC - hard to say … seems to be just up in the air with their acceptances but i think ur in
-NYU - in
-Dartmouth College- reach
-Vassar College- in
-Brandeis University- in
-Amherst College- in
-Pomona College- in
-Brown University-reach but doable
-Northwestern University-reach but doable
-Colombia University- reach
-Yale University- HIGH REACH
-WashU- in
-UPenn-HIGH REACH
-Johns Hopkins University-HIGH REACH (just because u wanna get in the bio program… which is pretty difficult)
-Stanford -HIGH REACH
-Harvard-HIGH REACH

hoow did you choose these schools!??

what do you mean like what led me to pick them?

Let me give you some statistics. Here are the percentages of applicants admitted to each of the schools I didn’t label as safeties:

Dartmouth: 9.7%
Amherst: 12.8%
Pomona: 13.6%
Brown: 8.7%
Northwestern: 18.0%
Columbia: 6.9%
Yale: 7.4%
WUSTL: 15.4%
JHU: 18.3%
Penn: 12.3%
Stanford: 7.1%
Harvard: 6.2%
UCLA: 25.3%
UCB: Probably ~20%
USC: 22.8%
NYU: 33.0%
Vassar: 22.3%
Brandeis: 38.6%

Do you understand now why you are not “in” to any of these schools, and why most of them are closer to “reach” than “match” for you? Do you see how wrong people who say you are “in” to places like Pomona, Amherst, WUSTL, etc. are?

UC’s: Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego, Berkeley (Good chance at all, maybe rejection at UCB and UCLA)
-USC Acceptance
-NYU Acceptance
-Dartmouth College Rejection
-Vassar College Acceptance
-Brandeis University Acceptance
-Amherst College Rejection/Maybe Wait List
-Pomona College Rejection/Maybe Wait List
-Brown University Rejection
-Northwestern University Rejection/Maybe Waiting List
-Columbia University Rejection
-Yale University Rejection
-WashU 50/50 Acceptance/Wait List/Rejection
-UPenn Rejection
-Johns Hopkins University Rejection/Maybe Wait List
-Stanford Rejection
-Harvard Rejection

I think that Haravrd, stanford, yale, and colombia are a reach. Otherwises, the others are a good match. Good luck! now I need u to chance me on one of my threads haha

People dont know what they are talking about. Its not like there are tons of more qualified applicants applying to pomona and amherst. THey have a low acceptance rate and are very selective, but the OP is certainly in range and very competitive, esepecially cuz hes an URM. Ivies you can never tell, if the test score goes up your chances will as well.

A person I know got into brandeis with a 16 on her ACT and a 3.7 weighted GPA. No joke.
I think you will be fine there xD

Brandies Vassar and NYU along with some UCs (maybe not Berkely and LA) are schools you definitely can get into (if you don’t do anything stupid). All the others are going to be pretty tough, as they are for everyone, but you should be able to get into a few of them at least.
