Illinois vs Purdue

Which would you choose if you were going into engineering?
I know they have similar rankings, but who has the advantage in things like housing, job placement, sports, social scene, etc...?

At first I was leaning towards Illinois, but now I have no idea.

Any help is appreciated

Illinois is bigger... better sports and social scene (in my opinion) and i believe it's higher in ranking. .. especially with UIUC being well known for engineering.
is cost a problem at all?

I'd pick Illinois, it's a more well-rounded school.

Illinois has better rankings than Purdue in most engineering fields and in most other areas.

Purdue has lower entrance standards than UIUC-engineering, so if you are admitted to both, you will likely have a more stimulating student body at UIUC. There might be a lot of weeding out going on in the engineering programs at Purdue.

I doubt UIUC's engineering school is bigger than Purdue's.

UIUC is #1 in Civil Engineering and has been in the top 5 in Electrical Engineering for many decades. CS is also top 5 or so, and has has turned out the founders of PayPal, YouTube, Lotus Notes, the Mosaic browser, etc. Supposedly Microsoft hires more UIUC graduates than from any other college. Tuition is fixed for 4 years (no increases).

Purdue represents a great admissions bargain, meaning it's a good, though large scale, engineering education without being ridiculously hard to get in. If you are successful there, there will be good job and grad school opportunities.

If you are in-state for either school, the tuition break should probably make your decision.

UIUC, for all of the above reasons.

Thanks. I have been admitted to both, and am OOS for both so the cost seems to be about the same

Anyone else?
