ILR or CALS AEM

I'm trying to decide between the two. They seem so similar yet so different. My ACT isn't great but it falls in the 50% range for both schools (28) since their range is 26-31. I'm hoping my essays will be the things that get me in.

Try to help me decide which 1 is right for me:

I'm business driven - here are my ECs:

Started 2 companies
Founded a youth organization
Officer of Business Club
E-bay business reselling designer clothing
Real Estate Development with my dad (his $, my research) (bought investment properties and built homes to rent out...recently bought a strip mall and going to renovate and rent out)

Other ECs:

Instructor of Martial Arts
Dancer (Indian)
Chairmember of Hurricane Relief Foundation
Weightlifting

Where would I fit?

My goals:

Be the next Donald Trump (lol ;-) ) or go work at a BB firm.
I'm really not sure, but which college would best suit my needs and why. I can't seem to decide. Thanks

ILR is more prelaw than business. I'd say AEM.

Okay thanks, but could you possibly explain in more detail why?

Also, do you think my EC's are good enough for AEM to makeup for my 3.6 UW GPA and 28 ACT? I'm showing my great passion in my essays.

Sorry to do this, but BUmp

Your EC's are pretty unique, which will help. What is a 28 equivalent to on the SATs, I'm not familiar with the ACT really.

Um...well, I was told that ~90% of the students in ILR are prelaw, so AEM might be more fitting just for that fact alone. AEM is also entirely business oritened, if you look at the course listings.

Actually I just visited AEM (undergrad business) site at http://business.aem.cornell.edu/ and am totally interested in it. I see so many things I can get involved in its making writing the essay so much easier.

I'm not sure what a 28 is...I guess ~1280-1300 - but for Cornell's ACT 25%-75% range I fall in between since its 26-31.
Thanks

AEM is a certifted business program but it is in ag school so i am under the impression u must have an interest in science somewhere in your application b/c they won't accept you if u fr weak in sciences, that's what the admission told me. ilr is in part pre-law 30% of grads do go to law school but the rst enter other fields of business thats why i choose it

I was weak in sciences and I'm a CALS bio major. Go figure.

alcoholic..u were weak in sciences on ur app when applying? I'm not a big fan of science, but I find AEM to be more intriguing than ILR and more of a fit for me. Should I let my lack of interest in science hold me back?

Yea, my chem sat II was 660. I think you should do AEM, but be aware that CALS has distribution requirements and you will have to take some science courses.

it may be a minus but do what u think is best for u AEM
is a very competive major to get into

I am in ILR, and my take is that it is very much more pre-law.

AEM is easier to do well in also, so take that for what its worth.

Thanks, I've decided to go with AEM, sorry abike :(. I just feel its more for me.

its whats best for u good luck

hey abike, I finished my supp #1 essay...would you care to take a look and see if it does the job expressing who I am?

I'm pretty sure AEM is considered one of the easiest majors at cornell.

That could be a positive or negative aspect. . .

i don't know anything wonder how i got in lol

AEM is kind of like a (good) tumor on CALS; it doesn't really have to much to do with hard science. perhaps others know better, but I don't see why AEM students would have to be good at science.

"I'm pretty sure AEM is considered one of the easiest majors at cornell."

That just made my day.

b1lee you applying to AEM? ED / RD?
