I'm a transfer student with 96 Transferable Units from NYU and Community Colleges -- Help?

Hello All,

I have a total of 96 Transferable courses, 24 of which are from NYU. I did very poorly during my time there but it’s hindering all my options to transfer to a UC.

At NYU, out of 6 classes at 4 units each, I only passed 2 with B’s. The rest are D’s or Fails. Is there any way I can just wipe out these courses to pass or no pass?

I want to transfer to a UC for a completely new major; Economics. I had my eye set on Cal Berkeley, but understand it’s impacted.

Does anyone have any insights on what one can do in this situation. I can’t return to NYU, since the tuition is way out of my budget.

Any insights or guidance would be really appreciated.

If all 96 of those semester credits are for lower-division classes, then you should still be able to apply as a junior transfer applicant. However, if/when you are admitted, the UC will cap you at 70 semester units completed.

On page 34 of this pdf, there is information about high-unit transfers which applies if you have taken a combination of both lower and upper-division courses that combine to 80+ semester units: https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/quick-reference.pdf

As for the D and F grades at NYU: no, you cannot just erase them from your academic record.
