I'm an Emory Scholar nominee - can I "drop" it?

I applied EDI to Emory 2 weeks ago. I checked off the box saying I am an Emory scholar, and thus I will send in my app on/by Nov. 15.

Can I not send it in and not be considered an emory scholar? i'll call emory on monday because the deadline is drawing near, I don't have an essay, I don't have any of the forms, and I really don't want to do it. I know I won't get it either (3.6 GPA, 31 ACT). Will this hurt my EDI chances?

thankyou

honestly, I doubt you even have to let them know you won’t be sending in the scholars app…

can’t imagine it affecting your ED app since Scholars is used to lure tippy top kids to Emory who may have gone elsewhere; given your decision is binding, you don’t fall into that category. and the admissions people for the school are not the same people that evaluate scholars fyi

Yeah - that’s what I thought rodney. However on the OPUS Emory system - it says that the Emory Scholars Student form and Nomination form still need to be submitted by November 15th. Is this ok? I really, really don’t want to do this.

dont worry about that on your opus…i have it on mine too

although i have no clue why you would want to drop your Emory Scholars chance…i sent mine in…hey its another chance at getting some money for college right?

also dont worry about it hurting your chances…they dont even read it until like after january…
