I'm multi-racial, My mother is half Swedish and Filipino and my dad is Black Hispanic. When first meeting me, people are confused by my race. I have blue eyes, goldish brown blond hair, and tan skin. So, they always guess I'm Middle Eastern. But, when I'm out with my parents we get hateful looks sometimes. When I was younger, we used to live in a small town. And our house would get spray painted with hateful words, and our car would be vandalized. My mom used to be called an "N Lover". And this was during the late 90s, so quite recent. We have moved since then. Now, I can't seem to fit in sometimes with other races. Mainly other minorities. In America there's this dumb thing called the "one drop rule", were if you have one drop of black blood, your Black. Because of that, many Blacks don't think I'm Black enough. And many Hispanics don't think I'm Hispanic enough. And the school were I go to, all the races are equally distributed. So, If I hang with a White person or listen to "White music". Someone will always say I'm trying trying to be White, but White people are the only people who I get along with in school. Anyway, has anyone experienced this? Because sometimes I wished I looked like a race, so people would stop judging me.

This is my first post, but a I've been on this site for awhile. I just created an account.

^You are quite right. We live in 21st Century now.

ah I think OP’s from 1820s,not 1920s. What he claimed that people did to him and his family were typical of 1820s, before Uncle Tom’s Cabin was written.

Marvelous idea ApatheticLove!
Or you should follow the example of Obama-I am 100 percent sure if you come to power, you won’t ever be discriminated against.

Okay lol. Here’s what you can do. Either moan about looking too exotic and modern for the tastes of worthless rednecks who’ll never amount to anything else in life, or be happy that you don’t look like every other loser at your school, which is most likely in the South.

Geesh. People like me actually want to look cooler.

Wait -you people don’t think this stuff still happens? Yeah- I’m sure the publication of Uncle Tom’s Cabin stopped all forms of racial violence in the US…

I’m in Southern California which is pretty diverse, and it still happens here.

Sounds like a good admissions essay topic, like seriously.

I understand though to an extent, being half Indian/White. Can’t fully identify with either culture, and people always think I’m Hispanic or something when they meet me. That’s one crazy ethnic mix though. And I thought I was a mutt… no offense. Being multi-racial has it’s up sides though. More genetic diversity! Yay.
