I sent a personal letter to Brown requesting that they let me apply now as a freshman undergraduate. I did it because I had no idea how awesome Brown was. I didn’t really apply to any reach schools and regret it. It was thoughtful but I feel there is a zero chance they’ll let me. Any thoughts? Any hope?

Wait for their reply.

if you have great stuff to show them.......i would definately try. at this point what have you got to lose? good luck!

No harm in trying

tell us what they say

Why don't you just apply as a transfer?

that could hurt your chances depending

mgcsinc - But could you apply as a transfer with no previous college credit? I don't think so, and speshul wants to apply for freshman undergrad...

no you cant apply as a transfer if you have no credit to transfer

Exactly. So then mgcsinc's suggestion wouldn't work.

I really doubt they'd consider your application now- why should they, when everybody else got theirs in before the deadline?

What the OP said was "apply as a freshman undergrad" - I assumed they were already in college.

Oh I wasn't sure which way they intended.

I assumed high schooler who is currently in the throes of application limbo ("I didn't really apply to any reach schools and regret it") but I could be wrong

Yeah, on second pass it is really ambiguous - I'm just not sure why someone here would feel compelled to point out that they were applying to be a freshman...

Yes I am a senior in high school, to clarify. Second, they have not responded. I have e-mailed them, written them a letter, and faxed them. They just don't care I suppose. Guess I will just continue to pester them. =)

I think an e-mail would have sufficed.
Or you could call, but the hold time for Brown is ridiculous.

the e-mail produced an automated response so that was a no go.

I wouldn't have posted here. If there was a slightest chance they were going to consider you, they wouldn't do it now because it would encourage too many people to try it next year.

I don't think anyone will now change their plans to wait a month after the deadline to apply, so I don't how this would encourage anything. If they want people to apply after the deadline, this will make no difference, if they don't want to, he won't be let either anyway, so I see no way how this changed anything.
