I'm DEATHLY afraid to hear my chances.. but meh? Chances?

Hello there!!! =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =] =]

If you'd take a second to chance me for Emory, that'd be swell. Emory is my first choice by 68550757877587584848578 miles. Do you think I have a shot?!?!?!?!?!?

LEADERSHIP:
*** Started the Fashion Team***
- We design outfits and make them, and compete against other groups on the team to see who can come up with the best wardrobe. It's serious fail because no one ever comes. One time I was the only person who came to practice, so I had to make fringes alone.
- I have recruited 26 girls. Only about 6 actually come to practice, and that many is rare.
- Meet M, Thu

*** Assisted in organization of "Revelation Week" this fall, which was a program in my school that pushed kids away from trying drugs and alcohol.***
- I had to RAP in front of all the kids at lunch for this.

*** Junior Leadership Committee ***

Key Club-Assistant Chair

RECS: My English teacher from this year said she'll write me a great rec.

ACADEMIC STUFF:
- I want to get a mentor and do some psychological research this summer, since I want to go into that field. It seems like it'd be really interesting to look into something in that field that no one knows about.

sooo... do you think I'll get in?? Is it a reach, match, or safety?

Your test scores are good, as is your uw gpa. I'm a bit confused on how your weighted gpa is only slightly above your uw gpa of 4.0 when you have taken those many AP classes. Does your school have a unique way of calculating gpa's? Anyway, your ec's are also good. I think you have great chances at Emory. It's definitely a good match.

Good Luck!

Why would you say you are deathly afraid? You are val, you've taken many APs, you have a high ACT, and you have strong EC's. Are you a poor writer? That would be the only that could hurt you..imo.

I find that really obnoxious. Obviously you know you are going to get in, this just makes you look pompous. No offense or anything, but that just makes you look like a snob. You clearly have nothing to worry about.

You'll do great. Keep it up, and there's nothing to worry about. Have you thought of the Emory Scholars program?

=[ I really wasn't trying to sound obnoxious or snobbish. =[

When I posted my list on a chance me thread, everyone said Emory was a "match." If people said it were a "Safety," I wouldn't have done it again here.

I know you weren't trying to sound obnoxious (amd2010- that was a bit unwarranted lol), but you really shouldn't be "deathly afraid" of your chances, especially if everyone told you it's a match. Don't be afraid of your chances; your stats and ec's will earn you a spot in some great school.

Emroy also looks highly upon applicants who show a strong intrest in their school and visit, go to local college fair, exc. So if you do/did that stuff since Emroy is you #1, you are golden.

You tempt me to shoot myself in the foot.

Please don't waste board space. You posted another about Princeton, so you could just merge them.

i hate people that do this.

TROLL

I think you guys are being too harsh. Maybe she just isn't confident in her abilities, which is sad, but quite common nowadays.

Anyway, SS, you said this:

*"=[ I really wasn't trying to sound obnoxious or snobbish. =[

When I posted my list on a chance me thread, everyone said Emory was a "match." If people said it were a "Safety," I wouldn't have done it again here."*

Emory, being such an amazing school, is never a safety for anyone, no matter how smart you are. It's just how it is with the admissions process now that is has so many talented students to choose from.

That aside, you have amazing stats. Though, I don't know where you will have enough room to put all of this in your application since you have so much stuff. Don't worry.

PS: I just saw that you're a junior. Damn, girl.

Oh, and have fun on that AP Latin-Vergil exam. Everyone in my class got a 3 on it.

And I also have minimum wage cashiering in common with you [I work at a local grocery store]. Sweet!

designing shirts for your high school sports team is not worth mentioning on your ECs.

that being said emory is a match. you have a great shot with your stats and being from alaska.

i definitely think you SHOULD put the designing shirts part on your app...it demonstrates your obvious love for fashion and how you implemented it in your community. Go for it.

It's way too early to tell. You still have about 9 AP courses to take. Those have yet to factor in your GPA. The leadership section with designing tshirts and recruiting 6 somewhat active students is also not worth mentioning.

Wow, your numbers and extracurriculars are impressive. You are more qualified than I was when I applied (current freshman at Emory), but I wrote some pretty amazing essays and gave great interviews (modesty is always easy for me).

Pretty much everyone I've met at Emory was ranked top 10, but didn't score as high on their standardized tests as expected from their GPAs. I've only met two other people who have taken more than 10 APs.

If you'd like a reference, here's my stats: ACT: 33, SAT: 2000, 11 APs (five 5s, two 4s, two 2s), unweighted 150+/600 ranking (wasn't too eager to seek out the exact number). It was my safety school since my out-of-state schools gave me slim-to-nothing.

You should definitely apply to other schools as well. I think you have a great chance of being accepted to Emory, but aim for Emory Scholars. Emory's cool and all, but not as fun as state schools (UGA, GSCU, GT), which have pretty good Honor Programs and don't charge an arm and a leg tuition.

Oh yeah, my stats at the moment of application were 4 APs, (three 5s, one 4). NHS treasurer, Ultimate Frisbee, Beta, Red Cross, and I did a summer of research at Winship Cancer Institute (~300 hrs). Pretty sure the research while in high school put me over the top (I have a paper in impression and hopefully published later this year).

Second semester senior year was was a little too amazing and I ended failing French and Macro exams. Passed the classes.
