I'm Deciding Between These Three Colleges:

Okay, I've been accepted into these three colleges, and I'm really not so sure on which one to go (and the deadline is approaching, so I have to make my decision fast).

CUNY Baruch
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY Binghamton

More likely than not I'm going to enter the world of business and choose a business major, but I'd also like to go to a school that gives me greater chances of getting a job over the other two, But I don't know which one that is. Also, which school is better in the "college life" sense? I know Baruch is in the middle of Manhattan and that Stony and Bing are both located in suburban areas, so I don't know. Also, which one has the best outside-school activities and stuff? Thanks.

Please help me decide. It's driving me crazy. lol

I'd also like to note that I only got accepted to the Spring 07 semester for Bing, and not for the '06 Fall semester.

NY Mom here--
As a business major, I think Baruch is known for having the strongest program and (I would think) internship possibilities as it is in NYC. The downside is that it is probably the least satisfying college experience, if you want to live in dorms- hang out with college friends in PM and live the "regular" life of a college student. D's boyfriend went to Baruch. He commuted each day into the city by LIRR. As he had some late afternoon/PM classes, he felt he spent too much time waiting around for the next class and didn't get home until late. He's now in the process of transferring to SUNY Buffalo. If you want a true college residential experience, I would suggest you go to one of the Suny's. The perception is that Stony Brook is more math/science. Bing may have a stronger Business program. But Bing. is a small city and alot of kids find it boring. If you live near NYC can you do a semester at Baruch and then transfer to Bing and will Bing accept the credits when you transfer?? This way you can check out Baruch and you have the "safety" of transferring to Bing. as your acceptance is for spring '07. It will also give you more time to check out the Bing. program.

Thank you for the reply. And I will try to ask about that information.

And yeah, I know that Stony Brook is more well-known for its math/science programs, but it still has a decent business program, doesn't it? Also, if I pay my tuition fee and housing fee today for Stony (it's due by May 1st, so I just want to be safe and know that I have somewhere to go) would I be able to cancel my payment or decide not to go after paying? And if I pay my reservation ticket for Binghamton, but then I get told that they have spots available for the fall semester, could I tell Stony that I, despite paying to go there, have decided to go to Bing instead? And vice versa (telling Bing that I won't accept their offer because I'm going to Stony).

Thanks in advance.

OK- just looked up Stony Brook- They have an MBA program too. I've heard really good things about SB- but as I live on Long Island, most of my d's friends want to go further away than suffolk county. I've seen the Bing. campus- and I think I'd get bored going to school there. So IMO- I think SB may be a good place to send your deposit. I've heard it is a real nice campus. As you have been accepted to Bing in the spring, I would think they would take credits from SB if you decide to transfer-- Though you may decide SB is right for you. I think once you pay a deposit and if you change your mind, you might loose the deposit fee.

Okay, cool. Thanks for your help.

Any more opinions would be more than welcome.

Go up, thread! :p

Once more! :p
