I want to get into Upenn, Duke, UCLA, Michigan Ann Arbor, and I think thats all.
On a state english test they gave us(Tennessee) I got top 5% in test scores. I have a 6 out of 6 essay score. Im taking 3 honors classes, we cant take any AP's yet.

On extracirriculars:
Science Club
Track-Best freshman sprinter and high jump
Cross Country
Dodgeball-yes dodgeball
Im gonna do about 40 hours community service over the summer.
GPA is 3.8 unwieghted, and 4.2 wieghted.
And Im doing a summer program at duke.
I play violin and piano.

-keep going with all your sports, dedication looks good
-keep your grades up
-get more than 40 hours community service, get into one certain community service activity and shoot for 500 hours over your high school career
-summer job maybe?

most importantly

-Stay off collegeconfidential, just focus on havin fun while getting your work done, youve got a long time till you need to worry bout college

of course you can put a summer job on your applications why wouldnt you be able to?

monts please do me a favor though and just take it easy.. im just saying this because my freshman and soph year i was OBSESSEd with getting into the college of my dreams (duke) and it seemed that eventually everything i did was just to try to impress the adcoms at duke in a couple of years when i would apply. eventually i just lost interest in all the stupid little clubs i signed up for and completely burnt out.
i'm sure you'll be okay (and plus you don't sound nearly as obsessive as i was) but seriously just do things youre interested in and don't focus so much on getting into college quite yet. with your gpa and stats already i'm sure you're a very bright kid and shouldn't have much trouble getting into a great school so just don't worry!

The only thing I would add to the above is to start associating with some of your favorite teachers and discussing the topics they teach. Ask for their advice, and topics to research in their field of study--and later ask them if you can use them as a reference.

Naturally, you do want to do some of the study--then go back and talk to them about this stuff later. It both shows you took their advice (which they will appreciate), and it also gives you a chance to learn more about what you might want to major in (and spend your career doing) when you get into college.

freshmen should worry about getting grades and activities, not worrying about college, yet. Things could change and all. By the time ur a junior or senior that's when you can get chances. It's good to start early but not to worry much about colleges besides doing what ur supposed to do now.
