I'm really dumb. Yeah, I'm reeeaaally dumb.

Ok, so you'll notice that this is, in fact a chance thread. All of my info is the same with the exception of my gpa, because the last time i calculated it, i added 1 pt. for ap's and .5 for honors. Which is wrong (if it's not then please tell me, so then i just stick with the other thread.) Anyways, feel free to take a look at the new gpa, and the old info and if you could tell me if it's a match, safety, or reach that'd be superextracalifristicexpialadoshes.

Sorry to be a pain, I just figured this one out on their website.

Yes, it is wrong. No one's really grasped how exactly weighted GPAs work, hah. Not even my counselor used to know. About your chances, well they're good considering their huge acceptance rate. However, you don't seem that competitive academically. Your scores are good, GPA is OK, other things seem average. Mind breaking down your scores into their components?

Stats last calculated: Yesterday (Jul 30, 2008)

just realized that i didn't post the breakdown. Once GT breaks it down to the SAT I and the two english and math sections, I think it's 1400-1420 range.

And I've done a lot of community service, too, to add to my list of extra currics. i forgot that too

would living in CA help me at all, and if so, how much? I doubt they get many applicants from here, and nobody at my school has ever applied to GT

I know alot of people from California here. The OOS population is one of the highest for a state uni (~40% are OOS). So, it won't help you being OOS. Your stats are fine except for your GPA. Avg GPA at Tech was ~3.8-3.9

I think you can get in.

What's your SAT Math score? GT cares about that a lot more than your SAT CR score.

I notice you made a 5 on the AP Spanish test. Are you Hispanic? If you are, then try to get your SAT up to around 2300. If you do, you could get a huge Hispanic-only scholarship.

Yes, the original post states he's Hispanic. Hey, mind posting a link for more info on that particular scholarship?

Thanks

oh i got a 32 on the math part of the ACT

In fact, if you report your ACT scores, they'll only ask you to fill in the Math and English components' scores.

yeah that's how i got the 1420 part lol.

I'm from Georgia... and I swear GT doesn't give a crap about anything other than math and science. A 31 is decently competitive. You're in 2 sports..that takes a ton of dedication...so your GPA can be accounted for. And let's face it...you took 3 APs! You obviously challenged yourself. Also, being hispanic, having these great recs, and being from Cali will definitely help you out.

Hm, try to take more science/math classes. Really excel in those...it's make or break.

thanks natas. i've taken honors physics, got a B, but GT will look at my senior schedule at least right? i have like 3 more AP's and another honors course

this may be a dumb question, but GT has an economy major right. lol

and wow, total of people at AT & T park right now against the Atlanta Braves: 400 people in the 9th. (i mention that only b/c GT is like 10 mins away from Turner Field.

Try this website. GT's financial aid department recommended it as a source of specific outside scholarships.

Yes, GT has an economics major.

awesome. oh i'm def. looking into that scholarship too. thanks fabrizio

so just to refresh my memory, can I consider Georgia Tech a match?

Yes, a match is a school that you have a good, but not guaranteed, chance of getting into.

ok so i hate to bring this thread back up again, but how much will hispanic help me on a scale of 1-10 at gt? if any
