im screwed...

I recently got caught drinking and driving, the whole community knows, the whole school knows, and the DWI charge is most likely going to stick (no deferd where I live)

I just met with the administrators at my school and I resigned my position of student council president, should I notify the schools that I have already applied to the I am no longer stu co pres and that I got a DWI?

wait, are you class of 2013 and already got accepted? If so, they probably already did the background screening before the DWI. Just pretend it never happened and I doubt the college will find out.

no, 2014. Ive applied to a few schools and have a few more to go.

I would mention that you dropped being president, but do NOT mention the DWI until you are actually convicted of it and required to notify them by law.

I’m sorry that this has happened to you but you’re lucky that you didn’t kill anyone. Did you learn from this that you should never drink and drive?

Yes, tell the schools you have applied to and tell the schools you will apply to. Consider yourself lucky that the outcome wasn’t any worse than it is. Accept the consequences for this one mistake you made and keep your chin up. I’ll hold a good thought that you’ll be accepted to some good schools next Spring.

Notify the schools of both the DUI and your resignation.

You should post on the parent forum. Lots of parents there who have been through this with their kids and can offer you better advice.

honesty is usually the best policy… if you haven’t applied to a few of your schools yet, you might want to consider writing about how your experience changed you.
