there's a big difference between visiting a school (no matter how many times) and attending/living there. you will realize that; hopefully you still love the school just as much then, but the bottom line is, if you haven't experienced the school like matt and other students, you are in no position to make an informed opinion on what life at NYU is like.

If you cannot follow that logic, I can't help you.

EDIT: that would be really cool though if NYU got put on the top universities list. Good luck hepstar.

Well, Tufts is not up on that list only b/c our USNews Rank is hindered by a small endowment. We're considered by everyone to otherwise be in the direct applicant cross-pool with G-town, JHU, NU, Emory, and Cornell; all of our numbers (as well as many other attributes) point to that. We are considered to be quite a bit of a step up from BC/NYU; most used them as matches/safeties. I would argue that Tufts definitely should be added.

lol I bet. If anyone that was applying to Tufts as their target school used NYU/BC as a safety, they weren't very bright. Especially considering the fact that the SAT midrange score at Tufts is only 30/40 points higher per section - not a major difference - and the acceptance rate at NYU is only slightly above those of several of the schools you've mentioned.

Brand-- I neither want nor need your help. Nor have I or would I ever ask for it.. You sound like a NYU wanna be. If you had any connection to NYU ( except wishing you went there ) I'm sure you would have stated it .

And you sound like you really know what you're talking about. It's nice to see someone so optimistic, but you should also be realistic and consider the opinions of current students as they may know something you do not.

Anyways, I am not a "NYU wanna be." While I am applying to NYU (as a transfer) I have already been accepted to one of the top schools in the nation. I have little doubt that I will have the opportunity to attend NYU, but am not sure whether or not I will take it ;). That is why I am here: unlike you, I listen to opinions from all current students without bias and try to become informed about life at NYU.

And FYI, you should think first before attacking the character and credentials of other members you know absolutely nothing about. I almost laughed out loud when I read "wishing you went there," as if me digesting and accepting both the positive and negative aspects of NYU indicates that the school is a reach for me.

ok dude have fun at NYU, although I may see you there if I don't end up taking the offer of admission I got from WUSTL. I know that school is basically crap and really easy compared to places where you were accepted like UMich and NYU, but hey, I guess I'll get by in life.

"Post counts don't determine top universities; they determine popular universities."

Post count should have some relevance because the universities are called "CC Top Universities" with an emphasis on the "CC." The top universities on this site should be chosen by factors which relate to this site, not by an outside source like the U.S. News and World Report.

"The US News rankings are not opinions. They are combinations of statistics, including SAT scores and acceptance rates, used to quantitatively rank the schools."

Different criteria are used by different publications to rank groups. NYU finished 34th on the US News list or top US Universities, but fared much better on other lists. Each of the following lists used different criteria, therefore have different results.

On this list or world universities, it's #39:

To ellockonyu: I'm glad that you agree w/me that NYU deserves to be a CC Top University. However, it doesn't mean that you should try and insult others who don't feel the same way, especially since some of them already attend NYU and know more about being a student than you or me.
