I'm Starting To Get Really Worried...

Up till junior year of high school, I have always considered the University of Michigan to be a sure bet for me since I'm in-state, go to a feeder school, and am generally a smart and well-rounded guy. Now, I see people with a mazing stats/EC's getting deferred and I am forced to rethink my previously optimistic outlook.:(

I really don't have any excuse for my low performance Sophomore Year other than I tried my best and still couldn't get all A's in my AP classes since they wre difficult. Now, I realize most of you are probably going ot be angry with me since getting 3 B's in AP classes isn't that big of a deal, but keep in mind that U of M DOES NOT take in account curriculum difficulty apparently and does not consider Freshman grades unfortunately. Nevertheless, I hope they consider that I am taking 5 AP classes junior year and got all A's 1st semester in addition to probably ending up with a 3.8 UMich GPA, considering that I don't get more than 1 B this semester.

Considering I retake the ACT and I have some wonderful essays/EC's/recs...what are my chances to get into U of M, Ross Business School to be patricular??? All replies and opinions will be greatly appreciated, especially those of Alexandre, childbearsfan, and hoedown!!!

dude you don't have to get worried.

you've got a great SAT score and a great GPA.

People like me should be more worried.

O_o
didn't you apply to tasp? i saw your posts on the tasp board. correct me if i'm wrong.
look at it this way. if you get into tasp, you're guaranteed. :]
i know that's not very helpful, heh.

Just apply early and you will be fine. Ross looks like it has been pretty random, so there's really no way to predict how you will do with that.

You don't need to retake the ACT either. Maybe give the SAT a shot though.

michigan does look into course difficulty. Doesn't it?

Can anyone clear this up? I'm pretty sure they do, but then I see kids that took very easy classes with 3.5-3.7 ish grades and they got in

Michigan has course curriculum as a strong factor, when I went on the visit. He said the most important factor was GPA, but tied into curriculum. 5 APs is insane, I really wouldn't be worried if I was you.

Thanks A2, I'm crossing my fingers that you will be accepted to Uof M. You definitely deserve it!!!;)

your in. My friends with WAY lower stats got accepted.

wow, thats a topic written by a TRUE nerd

1<3 NERDS!!!:)

Thanks for the replies you guys, I really appreciate you. The greatest advantage of living in Michigan is that UMich comes VERY cheap to in-staters. I really feel BAD for you out-of-staters since most of the competitive academic kids in my school in the years past ahve only had to pay a $10 grand annual tuition or have gotten full-rides.
