She told me that if I tested out of those two classes, I would have to drive down to an honors college in Boca Raton (far away from me) for my senior year math. So false. There’s a combined AP Stat/Pre-Calc class (2 math credits), AP Calc (think we only have AB), and Trig, in addition to tons of mid-level to high-level math courses at a nearby dual-enrollment college.

Haha, well, when 3 and 4 year olds start posting about whether they’re taking too large of a nap time to be considered competitive for HYPSM, I will leave this website.

Yeah… my school lied to me about taking Alg 1 my 7th grade year, so when I got to my new school they put me in pre-alg. When I got to Alg 1, I was bored. So freshman year, I decided to just start learning pre-calc and sophomore year calc. This year, taking an official Calc BC class, this winter, multivariable.

Haha, I didn’t think to do this. But then again, no matter what I self-studied, I wouldn’t be allowed to skip classes, apparently. And math isn’t my big thing.

It’s normal for accelerated students. Don’t worry about it. I took Alg 1 in 6th grade at a public school. Yes, I had to bus to the high school every morning for my class then bus back to the middle school, but I had a few friends who were also taking the class advanced.

Just don’t slack off. This class is a really important class to know the basics and to build up your foundation for classes like Algebra 2.

In New York we had something called Math A which was Algebra 1 plus 1 semester of Geometry. Then Math B which was 2nd semester of Geo + Algebra 2.

I took Math A 7th grade and half of 8th, so I was in the same position as you. You’ll be fine
