I'm thinking of transferring to RIT...

I am going into my second year of community college and I am thinking of transferring. My problems are not in the weather (it is literally exactly the same where I am from), nor the lack of 'things to do' (my boyfriend lived in Rochester, I have been there plenty of times, know my way around, been to RIT itself plenty of times and such)... but in whether A) I will be accepted into it and B) How life is for transfer students.

Acceptance - Does anyone know anything about RIT's requirements for accepting transfer students? (besides what is on the website) Are transfer students treated as sophomores or juniors?

Life - Do most transfer students live in dorms/apartments on or off campus/etc.? Are transfer students treated differently? Do they have any special orientation programs for transfer students?

I feel embarrassed to ask my friends (all guy friends of course haha)/boyfriend. I'm not quite as intelligent as they are, and I'm not extraordinarily computer literate, but I really want to learn and put my creative skills to use... They still don't know I'm considering transferring there.

Thanks

There is really no “sophomore” or “junior” status level at school, thanks to the fact that many student are on different length programs. When you transfer in, your credits will be converted into the quarter system, and you will get a year level that matches with your program.

As for life on campus, I believe transfer students tend to live in their own apartments off campus. This is an educated guess, as the dorms are typically for freshmen, and on campus apartments are very difficult to get into.
