I have a temp job in Penn’s admissions office helping to process all your incoming applications (and damn there are a lot)

Some observations:

-some of you are ridiculously smart and accomplished
-I had no idea so many of you came from private schools.
-One of your apps gave me a paper cut. To whoever wrote that app, I hate you.
-Between Kwons, Kangs, Kims, the K folder has a solid inch full of Korean applicants already. Lord knows how many we’ll have by Jan 1.
-Stetson has been busy doing ED app processing and he’s very stressed by it. So know that if you didn’t make the cut, know that at least you helped give him an ulcer and lose some more hair.

Oh, and does anyone have the names of any arch-nemeses whose applications you would like to become “lost?” :-D

Anyway, for those of you who havent sent your application yet:

-PLEASE DONT send it in a little envelope! use a full-size one so it doesn’t get all folder. Your thrice-folded application that won’t lie flat on the table looks like poo.

-WE DON’T TAKE THE COMMON APP! Why do so many people keep sending it in? STOP IT!

-Be spectacular. Or legacy.

-If you are from China, at least ATTEMPT to follow application directions instead of cramming anything remotely related to you and your countless achievements and no application

-Try to get your recommendation writers to say something other than being “intelligent” and such. You all are.

As for you ED kids, well, best of luck, and congratulations to the class of 2010, what is doubtless going to be the best Penn class ever…until the class of 2011 of course ;-)

Thanks for the info, if you caught the name HUMMEL let me know what my decision is, you shall be blessed with many gifts for any info, lol. Did you hear any other things being discussed of importance?

wow that must be crazy to work there. can you sneak in and find a list of ED acceptances? haha. i think we would all go insane. it's good to know stetson's freaking out because he's the one that read my app. GREAT.

i have a source that says they swap 6 people off the ED list from rejected to accepted so that people can't have their buddies check for them. Then they switch it back right before. Dno how true that is.

"WE DON'T TAKE THE COMMON APP! Why do so many people keep sending it in? STOP IT!"

Johnny - hahaha....i wouldn't be suprised if my application gave you a paper cut. I sent in an article i wrote for out paper and as i put it into its envelope i also recieved a paper cut. lol and also thanks for a brief update, if there is anything you are allowed to tell us or any special news that maybe useful for us fellow/outstanding CC members, please do us the favor and inform us! thanks man!

do you helo make decisions too?

and you said: "Oh, and does anyone have the names of any arch-nemeses whose applications you would like to become "lost?" "
--well there are other people from my school applying ED, though im sure it's too late by now to change that...but umm yeah...

Danngggit, that sucks that i'm korean. I mean it doesnt but it sucks that there are so many koreans, i will have a lower percentage of acceptance. Was the Korean aps for RD or ED?
