My SAT and ACT are 1530 and 33, respectively but I am little bit worried about my GPA being out of range for a school such as Georgia Tech or MIT. Could someone tell me if it is considered bad? Or good? Basically, how do my admission chances look by only considering my GPA
Assuming that the 3.8 GPA is unweighted, then the rigor of courses taken & class rank will be taken into consideration.
Georgia Tech does consider one’s state of residence & MIT is a tough admit for anyone.
MIT and Georgia Tech are very different in terms of entrance qualifications needed to get in.
Your stats seem okay for Georgia Tech, but are on the low side for MIT and your acceptance rate will be below the average acceptance rate (unless you have strong hooks).

The level of rigor of your high school is also a factor. Talk to your high school counselor about how students from your school have done in the past with selective colleges, and Georgia Tech specifically.
A 3.8 gpa won’t make you a good candidate for any college let alone MIT or GT.
No, but seriously, do you really think a 3.8 gpa is going to disqualify you??? A 3.8 is the minimum (realistically) that you need to apply to these schools. I can’t make any other judgement about admission (you haven’t given us enough info) but a 3.8 gpa is fine. Don’t stress out.
You posted this already. Before you said you had a 1570 SAT and 35 ACT… and now your saying you have a 1530 SAT and 33 ACT…
