<p>Can anyone give me a list of Stanford's impacted majors? I'm thinking of faxing Stanford a request to change my major, which I listed as chemical engineering, to something else because I'm pretty sure it's impacted (and I never really considered it until now). Links?</p>

<p>There are no impacted majors at stanford, the only place you see those are at public universities</p>

<p>nope you can hint at what you might like to study on the commonapp (obviously) but this is absolutely not binding. you have to declare by the end of your sophomore year but even then you can change it.</p>
<p>That is one of the things I love most about Stanford: the freedom…you can take till sophmore year to change ur major and still change around…so that you end up studying what interests you, whenever you realise said interests…</p>
<p>You are not committed to any major you put on your app. Emailing them to “change the major” will do nothing at best, or show them that you do not know the basic facts about Stanford undergrad education at worst.</p>
<p>Stanford doesn’t use your intended major in decision making, it doesn’t influence the decision at all. You don’t even have to say anything, nothing wrong with saying undecided. </p>
<p>They just use it to study the general makeup of their incoming class in data collecting</p>
