My SAT score is a 2100 (590 CR, 800 M, and 710 W). I was wondering how important it is to get my reading score up if I were apply to a school for engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or general sciences. Is that 590 really going to hurt my chances of getting into some very good programs? If so, I will consider taking the SAT one last time.

By the way my subjects scores are physics 730/68th percentile, chemistry 790/88th percentile, and math I 750/93rd percentile.

You NEED to take math II if you’re applying for an engineering/sciences school. There is a big difference and a 750 in math I isn’t going to cut it if you want to go for competitive colleges.

Depending on the college the 590 may or may not mess you up. Some colleges may not expect you to be very strong in humanities and you might be okay, but other colleges may stress the humanities and social sciences a good deal and won’t take you regardless of your other scores. Unless you’re a math genius you would do well to pull up the 590.

^^ Agree, but keep in mind that scores are also used for scholarships. If you think you can get a substatially higher score in CR that may bump you up in the money.
