not at all....

I don't know about 'not at all' since most of the people I know who applied and got in had good ECs. But your GPA is high enough, so you may be able to get away with it.

i think it matters for the top UCs (how much i dont know...)

but it doesn't matter at all for the middle-lower ranked UCs...

Actually, I think it matters most for UCB, even UCLA seems to let people slide.

well my uncle runs a non profit organization... and i help him a lot when he needs help with his computer, e-mails, etc ... is that worth putting? i haven't logged the hours or anything... is that good enough of an EC?

Also, do jobs count as ECs?

I got into ucla with pretty much no EC's

are there negative aspects of transferring? im thinking of going to CSM then transferring because i want to get into UCLA and i am not confident that i can get in as a high school student

Iildimsum7: There are tons of negative aspects to transfering. I wouldn't transfer unless you absolutely have to do it in order to do what you want to do. In other words, transfering is a last resort.

I wouldn't say last resort, thats a little harsh. Generally transfer students tend to work harder because they are more focused academically (since they still need to get into the school) and thus come with momentum. Students out of high school sometimes stray with the many many distractions that college offers in addition to academics.

I would say you should really try to get into a school out of high school so you can get the full college experience, but if you dont like your options, just put your head down and trasnfer anywhere you would like.

transfer in from a CC. all the cool kids are doing it.

say screw you to the crowd who insists on the crucial-ness of having a traditional social life in college...

go to a CC, challenge yourself, meet people who are totally different points in their lives, learn from them, make the best of it, get involved with something you like, strive for straight As, try to have fun with it, and before you know it, you'll be done and applying to UCLA.

In at UCLA/UCB with 1 semester of ECs and 2 years of entrepreneurial experience.

90% of people TAP certified get into UCLA (Stats from my school)
