Importance of Grades of class 11

Hello to the community
I am student currently studying in grade 11th ,
My academical background from class9th to 10th has been great
its
9th-86%
10th-97%
But in grade XI th i am witnessing various deviations in my score and scoring between 70 -75 % and I aspire to get into top colleges in USA , though I will compensate for the same in SAT score and in my Grade 12th result, but can this deviation in grade 11 , act as a major hindrance to my path to get into an ivy league ,or is there any way to compensate this loss
Please give your feedback as it would be valuable for me
Thanks

Are you an Indian student?

Any college with an acceptance rate of 25% and below is a lottery. It means there’s little you can do to increase your odds. Instead, a large part of your college search should be focused on finding affordable safeties and matches.

Yes, poor, sub-par, or downward trend performance is likely to shut you out of top colleges.

There are plenty of other excellent schools that would take you, however, and with very strong test scores it is possible to get a partial scholarship. Full scholarships will be unlikely without both top grades and extremely high test scores.

Yes.

Top SAT scores will not compensate for low grades.

And be aware that the acceptance rate for international students at HYP-level schools is closer to the 2% range. There are still plenty of other options, particularly if you need little to no aid.

Yes, 86-97-75 grades will be less appealing that 75-86-97 or 75-97-86. The year before college applications is the most recent indicator of abilities in coursework closest to college-level, and are a better indicator of ability to succeed in college.

A 3 hour SAT test score will not “compensate for” grades over an entire year.

Probably not what you were hoping to hear, but that’s reality.

11th grade grades are the most important…you are usually taking some college level classes…so you are showing how you could do in college level classes.

And the reality is that competition for an ivy spot is full of kids with 4.0 through hs.

Adcoms can look at grades as eveidence of what you learned in the courses and how prepared you are for the rigor at those colleges. And how much effort you put in.
